Haha :D

Might sound strange, but I don't care. BMW was at it's best when MB was far bigger. I just like BMW being on one because it bothers the MB boys so much ;)

If it makes you feel better Klier, I've sold my Audi S3. I'm now looking at a 340i. I'm positively drooling at the how BMW Australia has specified this car. I have to go to the dealership this weekend to check it out and get pricing. (y)

I'm also going to look at the new Audi A4.

Very interesting stats about Mercedes sales boom this year. I do think 2016 they will be close to overtaking BMW for number 1 spot. The new SUVs including the GLS and new E-class together with the new C-class coupe helping to boost some C-class sales will make their sales improve even more. BMW will also have the New X1 so that will also help their sales.

The C-class is selling well in Germany but 3 series is not doing well. The A4 is doing better and it's an older car than 3 series. A-class has bad sales in Germany I wonder it people don't like it that much. A3 and 1 and 2 series sales good.

The A-Class is 5dr only whereas the A3 is 3dr, 5dr, sedan and convertible. If you count the CLA sales with the A-class (2100+2041 = 4141 vs 4406 for the A3), the difference is quite low for september.

You have a very good point, i forgot about that for the A3 they bunch the models together while A class and CLA sales are seperate.

Mercedes could close that gap this year at that growth rate.

MB's 2015 growth was exceptional due to consolidation in Chinese market - where in 2015 MB has FINALLY recovered from fiasco from the dealership network disaster. So the sales figures there have finally normal. Mind that in previous years - when Audi & BMW growth in China market was great - MB suffered catastrophic sales there. Now the situation is normalized - as it should be.

So, the year 2016 and beyond will again be years with "natural growth" for all 3 brands: depending on new product / Mk launches, and general situations in specific markets.

Don't expect spectacular growth from any of the trio in the 2016.

When will we be able to see profits for 2015?

Daimler usually posts the financial results in the early February, BMW AG & Audi AG in the early March. So, we're still 2 month away from the profit figure comparisons.

@Merc1

Perhaps it's "old" news but it's a fact. MB growth in 2015 is mainly due to exceptional growth in Chinese market, where MB has finally consolidated dealership network. Just compare the BMW & Audi growth vs MB growth in Chinese market in a few years prior to 2015. MB was lagging behind badly! And in 2015 they finally caught up. In 2016 MB will suffer in the same way as all the other foreign carmakers. Chinese market has cooled down a lot, and is still cooling down. And quite some administrative measures are still affecting the automotive market.

Also mind the Chinese market is quite costly for the carmakers since the subsidies the carmakers give to the dealers are HUGE!

MB still has some way to go to catch up to Audi and BMW in China so I think it may still have some opportunity for growth even if the other two decline in line with the broader market. This could mean MB takes the #1 spot in 2016.

@Mr. Mercedes

Most of the Chinese sales are domestically produced products by MB, Audi & BMW. And when it comes to those sales they are limited with production capacities each brand has in China. Not sure but at least in 2015 MB had the smallest capacities among all three. BMW was second, and Audi was first. Sure every brand has plan to expand the production capacities but some does it faster than others. I have no detailed info what's going to happen in that particular field in 2016.

But in 2016 all 3 brands are coming with major locally produced product overhauls: BMW X1, MB E-class & GLC, and Audi A4. So those sales were missed in (late) 2015, when old Mks went out of production.
