That Alfa looks pretty good and I like that interior , but I'll have the benchmark to which all others will be measured against in this segment....///M3.

I'm a little disappointed with the draft Alfa Romeo, from the technical side is great but the design is far too little individualism. I look at it from every possible account and reminds me of currently produced cars, as there is Korea from Japan. In summary, 1:0 for M3.

Before the QV became known, it'd been M3 for morning, noon, and night. And I know I've been raving like a pre-puescent schoolgirl about the giulia and especially the QV, buuuuut......

I am not concerned with the QV's resale because if I can afford to buy it, I would hold onto till the wheels fell off. But I do have concerns about how soon into owning it and how often said wheels would come off.

It's a very tough one to call as both cars look great and both have their strengths in design as well as some styling weaknesses. I like the Giulia by a whisker cause i feel it has more passion in its design with stunning grill and front airdam as well as those great looking wheels. The interior also looks fantastic the best I have seen on an Italian saloon. The quality looks great and it has a nice simplified sporty look, a bit like the latest Audi's but having that unique Alfa signature 3 spoke wheel.

Where is the "pass on both" option?!

The M3 is just way overstyled. BMW and M have too many mandatory design ques. The base 3 series looks more athletic thanks to its simpler design.

The Giulia looks bloated, like it's bursting at the seams. Nothing about the design is unique or particularly well done. People must be blinded by the Alfa badge when they talk about it being gorgeous.

I'm really not a fan of the Alfa. The rear end is incredibly uninspired, the profile cheap. I can't properly express how much I dislike the way the Alfa looks from the side. It's just a spectacular representation of how a profile shouldn't look for a sporty saloon. M3 without even thinking about it.

The Alfa's interior design is pretty nice it must be said... at least it's got a bit of flair imbued in it.

Easy, the king of the ring for me please! The only thing I like about the Giulia is the interior.

Just for giggles, this is how'd rank my choices...

1. Alfa Giulia...it's not a known quantity, but barring any terrible reviews on both drive quality and/or build quality, it's irresistable to me.
2. BMW 3er...no denying it's the benchmark in this segment. They've been at this continuously since the early 1960's. They know what's going on.
3 (tie) M-B C-Class...lovely interior, stately exterior.
3 (tie) Lexus IS... Although I am starting to get tired of some of the more garish elements from Lexus, I still find it compelling. I know it'll be fun to drive and reliable.
5. Jaguar XE...the interior is not anything to write home about. But I've made peace with the rear as I thought that was the only glaring misstep in its exterior design.
6. Infiniti Q-whatever it's called now ...Q50? It's nice, but I just don't find it compelling.
7. Audi A4... subject to change come tomorrow's reveal, but I got a nagging feeling it won't happen.
8. Caddy ATS... A good car, but I've grown bored with its exterior and interior, especially those gauges that look like they came from a mid-1990's GM compact car.

EDIT: Well, I guess I have to take back my words on the new A4. It's boring, but the interior makes a stonger argument than I thought it would. So...

5. (tie) Audi A4... Boring exterior, lighter, engine choices seem efficient (on paper), and when properly equipped, a rather nice interior.

8. Caddy ATS... A good car, but I've grown bored with its exterior and interior, especially those gauges that look like they came from a mid-1990's GM compact car.
9. Acura TL-X...Honda reliability, Honda engineering, Honda boring. I'd consider a mid-level Accord at this point, take the added space and save my money.

I do trust BMW a lot with the M3. I think it is a very good product. I have read some complains about the engine, which I am not sure are justified. This Alfa looks amazing, it´s much more poweful and the interior is way more beautiful. But the front end and the rearlights might not age well IMO.

I am not voting on this one.

I have to agree completely. Even though I like the cars a lot, you are totally right on what you said.

I wish the M3 was still just another 3 Series with a badge and one side exhaust like the E36 and E34 were. Even the E39 was relatively subtle.

To me, this should be the M3, just add the fender flares from the F80 and it would look gorgeous without being in your face. The F80 bumpers are overdone.

I believe a 328i M Sport in White like the one above is one of the most beatiful cars today. It's one of the few new cars that I really want since it came out on 2012

Take the badge off and go race a Parsh

I love both this cars, but I've been saying this since the Giulia came out: I want to see the base model Alfas because that's where they are going to really prove their worth. I don't think there is something as good as the lease special 320i with sport package for the ethusiast, so let's see what Alfa brings to the fight.

Looking back maybe, but cars like the E46 and E39 were not subtle when they were new.

Now that you mention it, klier, you're totally right. Taking a look at a modern Camry or Maxima you realize how overdone and aggressive looking cars can be today. I think my perspective is not quite right, because I'm comparing old with new.

The other day my dad saw nothing special on a E92 M3. And I said "but it's so obvious it's not a normal BMW". And he also said the Camry looked "sporty", I was like WTF?? And then realized it actually does :D

Conclusion, personal choice, I like blending in, most of the time. If I had an M3, I'd happily trade my bumpers and quad exhaust with a 328i M Sport owner, but it would need modifying the bumpers to fit the wider F80, and I would need 80k in the first place.
