According to German financial newspaper "Finanzen" Dr. Winterkorn confirmed the Audi A3 convertible for earliest 2008. He told this to German newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeinen Sonntagszeitung" last Sunday. He said: "We need 30 months of preparation."

He also stated that the Audi LeMans, also known as Audi R8, will be available spring 2007. He believes that there "will be a model below 100.000 Euro."

There is a mistake in the text from the article. LeMans concept will be named R9 for production and not R8.

It is the other way around "Yannis"

Looks similar to the A4... These Audi's for the most part are all so similar.... At a quick glance they are alike. :t-hands:

I hope it won't look like all these French out proportioned Cabrios (307CC, Megane CC).

I don't see the point of this. They have the A4 Cabriolet and the TT Roadster, I think this would be stepping on the toes of both of 'em.

If they did this car then they'd be cannobolizing the sales of the A3's sister, the Eos. Even if they did do an A3 cab., i don't really see how they could make it much different from any of the other A3 variants? Hopefully the next platform will be more versatile to accomodate such a car.

absolutely , I was about to say the same thing .. I dunno but I think it will overlap with the A4 Cab .. almost same size but with cheaper price tag ...

With the coming of the 2er Cabrio... it makes perfect sense to bring the A3 cabrio.

^you mean the 1er convertable...

Unless they dropped that like with the 4er (3er coupe)...

The coupe & cabrio was supposed to be sold as a 2er!? :t-hands:

I am torn. Because I am estatic Audi is bringing in more models but at the same time I worry its too much too soon, I honestly dont want Audi to do what MB did. In the back of my mind I liked the smaller line up, it made Audi feel like an exclusive brand to me.

Audi is doing this because of the competition and the level of growth and sucess those companies have experienced. I think it's a great idea, so as long as those products stay true to what an Audi is.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
