Ferrari- Dont really like the way it looks..it looks fragile
Mclaren- No fantasy in the design..look like a toy
Gallardo- Probably the best looking car here..but its old.
Porsche- Im afraid to die
R8GT- Hot HOT HOT... but i want a RWD sportscar

So ile have to pick SLS .. even though i really dont want to pick it..

If i can have my own way i would take a 430 Scud..:)

THIS looks like a toy to you ? Anyway, to me that gallardo looks like a toy, but maybe that's because we have a different understanding of the term "toy". In my opinion the mclaren is actually the best looking car from this lot, even though like many have pointed out it's design is not very original or breathtaking (except the rear design maybe). But neither is any of this cars (i mean breathtaking). The 458 italia has the sex-appeal of a frog, the LP560 looks like something a 7-year old would like to have in his collection, the SLS is actually bland and wierd proportioned (unlike the SLR which really WAS breathtaking to look at), the R8 looks like any other R8, and the 911 looks like any other 911.

3. BMW M3 GTS-R
4. Mercedes SLS AMG
5. Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera
6. Porsche 911 GT2 RS
7. Audi R8 GT

I don't for a minute dispute the McLaren's technical credentials. The construction is groundbreaking, the engine (co-developed with Ricardo I recall) is notable for a turbo'd V8 and the numbers commensurately impressive.

The problem with the MP4-12C is that - like its odd name - it's completely generic looking. It could be any new Farashbionoble made out of a hangar in the Midlands somewhere. Even McLaren in their press statements made heavy weather of attempting to justify the MP4's comparably bland looks. It was that whole "Form follows Function" spin. And yet, their F1 happens to be the most beautiful supercar ever made, in my opinion, and this taking into account the Miuras and F40s and [insert beloved supercar beauty here].

Yes it looks like a sports car 101.. boring fantasyless design..
For me its not enough that a car is fast as hell..
Even the F1 looked bad to me..
The real hot mclaren was the F1 LM..

But thats my opinion.. im sure you love them:)

* Hmmm, quite something this - you've placed a fictitious, barely-rumoured M3 that doesn't exist (and even if it did, would never qualify as a supercar in the league of this company) in at number 3. And then, the fantastic and rather real GT2 RS and R8 GT at the bottom of the list. Sheer brilliance.

I can see you're going to be great fun around here...

I understand Ferrari's and Porsche's positions at the top of the poll vote but I'm struggling to understand why the McLaren is not winning more votes.

Is it the choice of running an FI engine, even though it will probably be the finest/quickest car in the group?

And why no LFA in the poll? I would pick it over GT2 RS or LP570 or SLS.
No japanese BS cuz then I'd have to have the GT-R and then of course the americans ZR1 oh and who can forget the Viper...oh what about the Turbo wait..the GT3 why not RS...or Gumpert....you can see the list will get to full ;)

No real tests and reviews been done so far. I mean, I dont know much about the cars other than the specs we've read. I need more meat about this car before I can judge.

Perhaps it's because a supercar is supposed to thrill even when it's standing still. For me at least, the MP4-12C fails in that category.

speaking of which, when are we going to see the mp4 in the showrooms ?? i just can't wait for a comparison with the 458 italia. mclaren boss said that his goal it to beat ferrari at it's own game, and judging by all the fuss they made about this car, and also by the fact that they have already succeded that in the past (with the F1 supercar), I think he was not bullshiting us :D I mean, just looking at the specs, not to mention the impressive amount of technology they have implemented into in this car, this mp4 should outclass the fezza in pretty much every aspect: acceleration, handling, braking, driver involvement (maybe but maybe not, because of the response/sound of the engine), ease of use, and so on. My only concern is that regarding turbo lag, which unfortunately at that displacement and power is practically unavoidable...my advice would be to scrap the turbos completely and just increase the number of cillinders ! Yes, i'm talking about a V10 (that would be a 4.75 liter one, with at least 540 bhp) , but probably that doesn't fit, or, maybe it fits but they had to keep the emissions (or costs?) within a certain threshold, and this is why they opted for turbo'ed V8...

McLaren "wotshisname" or mclaren "whatwasthat" ? Because those, my friend, are the words that will be on your lips when this car will eventually pass by you ;)
