The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are a series of grand tourers produced by Maserati, succeeding the Maserati Coupé and Spyder.

A number of Maserati GranTurismo prototypes have been spotted in recent months but most of these were looked over as just the upcoming convertible version due next year. According to Italy’s Corriere Motori Maserati is also testing a new high-performance version of the GranTurismo that will wear ‘S’ badges and be powered by a 440hp version of Fiat Group’s new 4.7L V8 engine (the same engine in the Alfa 8C Spyder).

Although we’re not sure of the image’s authenticity, the depicted car sports a new bumper design with integrated foglights and a revised lower intake. Completing the upgrade to the performance S grade is a new set of alloy wheels and a pair of side skirts. Expect to see an aggressively styled carbon diffuser up back with a pair of integrated exhaust tips.

Along with the visual modifications, the car is also reported to get a new electronic-actuated gearbox, Brembo brakes with six-piston aluminum calipers and a sportier exhaust note.

Re: 440HP Maserati GranTurismo ‘S’ in the works

Its about time. It seems like the press is always complaining about how soft the current model is and in this hp nuts world, 400hp just doesn't cut it in the GT class anymore.

Even the Vantage will be getting a power bump at Geneva so it's about time Maserati gets with the program.

Re: 440HP Maserati GranTurismo ‘S’ in the works

Set to be one of the star attractions at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, this is the Maserati GranTurismo S, a flagship that shifts the super-coupe’s emphasis from style to performance.

Key to the newcomer’s appeal is its mighty 434bhp 4.7-litre V8 powerplant – a 35bhp boost over the standard car. To help drivers make the most of the S it is fitted with Maserati’s quick-shifting automated manual gearbox.

What's more the range-topper also comes with powerful Brembo brakes as standard.

Buyers are also treated to a subtle bodykit and exterior styling tweaks to set the high performance model apart. Inside, the cabin is trimmed with leather and Alcantara and features a bespoke seat design.

Expect more details when the racy Italian is unveiled in Geneva on Tuesday 4th March.

Press Release
MASERATI PRESENTS THE GRANTURISMO S

A year after the unveiling of the GranTurismo, Maserati will be back at the Geneva International Motorshow with yet another world premiere, the GranTurismo S. The ultimate expression of the Trident coupé’s sportiness shifts the emphasis onto performance and driving enjoyment.

Two main novelties are at the heart of the new Maserati: the 440 hp V8 4.7 engine and the electro-actuated gearbox with fast MC-Shift arranged in the transaxle layout typical of high-performance sports cars that represents the technological DNA of all Maseratis.

The GranTurismo S makes use of the high-performance brake system developed in collaboration with Brembo and introduced for the first time in the automotive field on the Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S. The system features front brake discs made with dual-cast technology – a dual casting of cast iron and aluminium, paired with aluminium mono-bloc 6-piston brake callipers, ensuring optimised braking performance.

On the exterior the Maserati GranTurismo S is characterised by a number of aesthetic modifications that, although discrete, are highly effective and make the car body appear sportier without abandoning the sleekness of the lines masterfully designed by Pininfarina.

The interior upholstered in Poltrona Frau leather and Alcantara reflects the sporty flair of the Maserati GranTurismo S; the figure-hugging front and rear seats are distinguished by their new dynamic design with horizontal piping on the seats and seatbacks.

This is what all the Gransport owners unconvinced by the GT are waiting for... Good on Maserati to offer MC-shift. :usa7uh:

Message to that fine lady in 2nd pic:

Dear Lady,

would you please be so kind to go and b-slap any of Maserati's representatives, saying greetings from Tycoon for putting such fugly rims on such beautiful car?

Many thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

Tycoon.

PS: If you do that, i'll let you have a date with me!

:t-cheers:

This is arguably what this car should have been from the start. Now I want an even sportier version like the Quattroporte Sport GTS.

I saw my first GranTurismo on the streets of Vancouver about a week ago now and
was greatly suprised by the vehicle's stance. I thought it'd look a hell of a lot more messy than it actually did.

Shame the exterior build quality isn't quite as impressive as the car looks.
