A5/S5/RS5 2027 RS 5 Avant Sedan and Avant

The saloon weighs only 35kg less than the AMG E53 (2390kg) and the Avant is 65kg lighter than the T-model E53 (2435kg) with almost same size battery. The prices of both RS5 models are very expensive and higher than the larger E53 which is cheaper at 98K Euros (saloon) and 101K (T-model) with the current discounts.

Both RS5 models however look far more aggressive than any current Mercedes saloon/T-model and equivalent M3/M5 models.
I love the look of the car and I was expecting a much higher price tag. The weight is crazy, but nowadays they make incredible chassis. We'll see what the reviews say about that. Now, with the facelift of the E53 coming up, it's going to be interesting.

The M5 touring weighs more than the M3 touring but reviews are very positive, even from owners who have owned both.

However, concerning the RS5 there no rear-axle steering, cross-linked hydraulic dampers or air-springs to overcome physics of the weight.

Therefore it will have to rely on the diff and sending 100% power to the rear to make the car feel lighter.

Exterior really good, interior so so. Weight of the car disaster, as usual lately with new cars. But in the fantasy world, I would have this used RS4 B7 and put the rest of the money in the bank.

Now I've seen the videos, I like it even more. And I think I'm now preferring the sportback to the avant. Looks fabulous.

Could this be the first Audi I buy? I’ve been close before. But BM always won out.

1M > TTRS
M2 > RS3

RS5 > ?

Maybe this time. But 2.3 tons and not a huge performance increase is a tad disappointing. Leaving room for the facelift in a couple of years.

Can't wait for the configurator to become available.

I want to say the same but my issue with Audis is that even when they are brilliant, they are a bit too clinical and lack spice or character. Basically the chassis engineering is too perfect.

They said that about the new M5. Didn’t deter buyers, though. It’ll be the same thing here - fans of the RS brand will flock to it.

M5 is a big family executive. Theres a clear difference in purposes between it and the m3.

Therefore weight didnt really matter.

2.4 tonne m3 would be DOA too. Its too much.

It's f#cking pathetic EU regulations. Give it roughly the same engine as an M3, then add a bazillion kg in high tech, and then......BAM!...we can magically half the price! Voila!

Greenwashing madness. Little over 100 hp extra with a weight penalty of 500+ kg is 100% unadulterated useless BS.

This whole RS5 is a f#cking joke despite looking good (from the outside only).
You’re bang on.

I guess the RS5 will be much cheaper than the M3 touring in the Netherlands.

I find it baffling you're even contemplating the thought lol

It won't hold a candle to the M3

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
