2026 Mercedes GLE/GLS Facelift

Do you have an idea whether the GLE is still the most profitable car for Mercedes (this was stated at the presentation of the W223 by the already ex chief technical designer)?

It is not the most profitable vehicle on a per unit basis, but yes if we're talking net profit by model the GLE is still in the lead. The GLC used to be close, less so nowadays.

I will miss this interior. It's one of the very last distinctive interiors that are also not dominated by screens. When you see it in a photo you know it cannot be from anything other than a GLE/GLS. I like the rugged rectangular air vents.

A classic in my opinion.

Unfortunately, since screens are much cheaper than all those wood, aluminum, glass, carbon, chrome, buttons, and similar materials, brands see filling their vehicles completely with screens as an opportunity to increase their profitability.

Ferrari's CEO recently said that screens are much cheaper to produce than physical buttons and high-quality trims, which is why brands have started using far more screens in their vehicles.

Before the facelift, the S-Class dashboard featured high-quality wood, but after the facelift, large screens with ugly bezels arrived. For Mercedes, this is a formula for producing vehicles more cheaply while selling them at a higher price. This applies to all other brands as well.

The GLE is still a very good looking SUV even in FL trim. I like the interior but the only letdown in my opinion is the screens. For a luxury car the huge bezels is a big letdown and looks cheap.
