This picture very nicely shows a major problem with MB's design:

The headlight unit is very old school, just with modern LED tech inside.
And while there's nothing wrong with the actual lighting tech, the design of the headlights with 85% dead plastic space inside is just horrible.

They only halfway modernized. Shape of the lights is like a 2008 car with 2026 tech inside a completely wasted huge unit. This sure as hell is not working. Fully modernize the headlamps, Mercedes.

Simply put, this headlight shape and size seems made for gigantic Xenon (or all lights before LED) lamps like in the old days. Not for tiny LEDs.

And the shape of these LEDs do not even remotely resemble a star. It's poor all around.

I'm not sure about that, seems like the rear was designed around having that piece of plastic in black.

Maybe more compelling with the ribbing deleted ? I'm afraid that I am just not the fan of those round rear taillamp units. But I suppose that they cannot be deleted. I could much prefer a solitary bow, perhaps just a very, very wee bit thicker sans the round units.

Simply put, I believe the designers tried to get as close as possible to the GT two-door models with the headlight shape.
The stars are tilted back in the graphic to fit the angle of the headlights. Upright star graphics would not fill the angles of the light clusters.
When looked at from head-on, they look like stars.

Gemini AI visualization of my suggestions (deletion of ribbed intarsia surface and/or deletion of round taillamp elements):
Sorry, but this looks absolutely horrible. Whatever ideas you draw from a design perspective have to fall in line with what Mercedes is doing to look even remotely related. A design idea within the DNA of the company, in other words. Plastic slapping random ideas for the sake of looks alone never works. That blacked-out area is meant to be there. If you remove it, the lines and taillights need to be rearranged and reshaped to fill the area.

Sorry, but this looks absolutely horrible.

I need not explain that the perception of design is subjective.

Simply tossing out an albeit absolutely fictional and perhaps constructively unachievable alternative based on a personal perception "jogs the eye" and may, in the best cases, invoke a bit of thought.

Hence, your "absolutely horrible" is or is not as qualified as my "alternative". Not unlike blurting out "FUGLY" or posting laughing emojis. "Absolutely not constructively possible" would be a statement that carries far more weight. Especially if it is coming from a professional engineer or designer...which you very well may be, for all I know.

You have to have some serious imagination to see stars in them. I just see some weird spaced out lines.

Not when what Mercedes is doing themselves is completely unrelated to any other Benz. This AMG GT is the most random design ever.

which you very well may be, for all I know.

He very much is not

Clearly, you don`t know what you're talking about when you say Mercedes is unrelated to what they are doing; every Mercedes today shows the basic "sensual purity" theme. This GT 4-door clearly carries that theme.
AMG has thrown its own design schemes to show its wilder side this time. As I stated earlier, most of their details are unrelated to the conservative side of Mercedes.

Design cohesion is in the eye of the beholder after all, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

"Absolutely not constructively possible" carries very little weight in this case for the obvious reasons.

My subjective personal perception: Cleave-off the front end from the the trailing edges of the upper headlamps forwards and the rear end from the edge of the lightbow rearwards...and one is presented with quite a recognizable "conservative" Wagener-esque piece of M-B designcraft. Not umsimilar to that of the R232 SL. And my subjective personal perception is that the cleaved-off segments are testimony to poorly integrated, superfluous dramatics. Far less could have been so much more IMHO.

What would those be ? I'm curious.

These images simply reinforce my personal perceptions that, were the front and rear ends "removed", a very "Wagener-esque", characteristic M-B vehicle would appear. Something similar in spirit to an imaginary 4 door R232 SL-derived GT coupe. Or a somewhat more athletic CLS reimagined. Hence, much remains a Mercedes-Benz with "feigned spectacular" front- and rearends applied. Or as an analogy: "The dish represents good, solid fare. But the garnish makes it awkward.".

You have to know what you are doing when you change things as you described. It takes a good 2 years to get familiar with a car company's design language and roots if you want to take it seriously. This requires visual study and numerous hand sketches to start. AI prompts will get you nowhere. They look random and out of place, as many have in this forum. This version of the GT has a bit of F1 influence in both its interior and exterior, incorporated into Wagener's Sunsual Purity theme. It is a fusion of both. This is why some call it random or ugly.
If you change it as you described, it will be a different car altogether and would not be what it stands for.

Circumstantial in which elements of brand perception, brand heritage, the social media and digital product innovation Zeitgeist play significant roles are not confined to fixed time parameters.

In modern automotive design, hand sketches are a foundation of the process that soon incorporates AI. These elements are not "rivals", but work as a complementing "team".

Agree. The body-in-white "cage" of the AMG.EA 4 door GT coupe is, IMHO, clearly identifiabe as a Wagener era Mercedes-Benz. And it is an element that does not alienate due to its familiarity. As for the rest, perceptions are likely to remain elusive.

While much of the debate focuses on design, the real revolution is happening elsewhere. The combination of exceptional performance, long range, ultra-fast charging technology, and cutting-edge driving technology makes the GT 63 one of the most technologically advanced vehicles of its time. This shows that AMG's future is defined not only by emotion but increasingly by cutting-edge engineering. With the GT, the Affalterbach-based company has achieved success far beyond expectations.

They should put this system in the C EQ AMG, it would make great sales !
