This picture very nicely shows a major problem with MB's design:

The headlight unit is very old school, just with modern LED tech inside.
And while there's nothing wrong with the actual lighting tech, the design of the headlights with 85% dead plastic space inside is just horrible.

They only halfway modernized. Shape of the lights is like a 2008 car with 2026 tech inside a completely wasted huge unit. This sure as hell is not working. Fully modernize the headlamps, Mercedes.

Simply put, this headlight shape and size seems made for gigantic Xenon (or all lights before LED) lamps like in the old days. Not for tiny LEDs.

And the shape of these LEDs do not even remotely resemble a star. It's poor all around.

I'm not sure about that, seems like the rear was designed around having that piece of plastic in black.

Maybe more compelling with the ribbing deleted ? I'm afraid that I am just not the fan of those round rear taillamp units. But I suppose that they cannot be deleted. I could much prefer a solitary bow, perhaps just a very, very wee bit thicker sans the round units.

Simply put, I believe the designers tried to get as close as possible to the GT two-door models with the headlight shape.
The stars are tilted back in the graphic to fit the angle of the headlights. Upright star graphics would not fill the angles of the light clusters.
When looked at from head-on, they look like stars.

Gemini AI visualization of my suggestions (deletion of ribbed intarsia surface and/or deletion of round taillamp elements):
Sorry, but this looks absolutely horrible. Whatever ideas you draw from a design perspective have to fall in line with what Mercedes is doing to look even remotely related. A design idea within the DNA of the company, in other words. Plastic slapping random ideas for the sake of looks alone never works. That blacked-out area is meant to be there. If you remove it, the lines and taillights need to be rearranged and reshaped to fill the area.

Sorry, but this looks absolutely horrible.

I need not explain that the perception of design is subjective.

Simply tossing out an albeit absolutely fictional and perhaps constructively unachievable alternative based on a personal perception "jogs the eye" and may, in the best cases, invoke a bit of thought.

Hence, your "absolutely horrible" is or is not as qualified as my "alternative". Not unlike blurting out "FUGLY" or posting laughing emojis. "Absolutely not constructively possible" would be a statement that carries far more weight. Especially if it is coming from a professional engineer or designer...which you very well may be, for all I know.
