When they were describing the rear of the G70 they did say it looks familiar?
I wonder if they meant something like this?

I cannot imagine this being accurate. Hopefully not as its' exterior design architecture is a relic from a quickly expiring era.

Oh they have something on the agenda that addresses the move to more modern looking mobility concepts.
As for THE 7? Remember what I try to tell you about rivets? That C pillar on the prototype is integrated into the render. I am told it will be exactly like what you expect THE 7 to be.

This is an F01 front with split headlights and G11 rear with a few adjustments. Sure the final car will not be like this. It’s obvious that most renders are based on cladding which actually does just that: conceal the actual car.

EQS is another "brand". You have to show the S-Klasse
Well, I see your point but it’s not really true. The EQS will most likely take over as the flagship luxury sedan, maybe not in this generation, but it has a big potential even now. The other thing is this will be the i7 as well, not only the 7 series, in which case they are already direct competitors, regardless of the standard S class.

Looks like the EQS should have noticeably more rear space. Not keen on the proportions though.
Heading slightly off-topic, but... The G70 works for me personally... I appreciate these proportions...

..and the slightly more cab-back profile of the G70 is slightly more reminiscent of the older smaller cars too.

Is that E3 a 3.3Li ? Very cool. I've mentioned this some time ago on a previous thread: An uncle of mine had a dark metallic blue E3 3.0 Si. Tremendous car that was...

Yep. It is the quintessential BMW saloon shape for me. It's not that I don't appreciate other shapes, but if it's that of a blob, I prefer the upright classic stance.

We should be in for an interesting "Battle Of The Architectures":

Conservative versus Avantgarde.

Can't see the EQS shape aging well. A frind of mine always says how curvy designs age poorly. I do agree. You just have to look at the current C-Coupe to see how its egg shape has aged compared to the first A5, for example.

A mistake MB keeps making.

As previously mentioned, the EQS reminds me of several avantgarde automotive designs of yore. Granted, in some cases, these cars were not necessarily commercially successful. But position an NSU Ro80 (presented in 1967) next to its' competitors of the era-and it looks like a spaceship in comparison and even to this very day, appears remarkably fresh. The same applies to the Citröen CX (presented in 1974). The Rover SD1 (presented in 1976) is yet another example.

Maybe I’m too young but to me the three box design looks a bit like glued together. I like vagons and from sedans I prefer the coupes over the traditional sedans, like A7, CLS, and even Tesla went that way. I think the EQS will be very contemporary both in design and functionality, not futuristic but contemporary. The recent concepts from Audi are following the same design, and while Im sure they are more practical in use, subjectively I also prefer the design, because it doesn’t limit the rear of the car so much, more space for lights, different details, graphics etc.
