This is probably a good indication of how the car will end up looking like. It is also likely a good indication of why I would dislike such a design.

When I look at that render, I just see borrowed design elements from other brands.
  • The vertical kidneys arise from the trend of most of the industry of making huge grilles. As the horizontal kidneys were reaching a logical size limit, BMW changed them for the vertical grille we now see in the 4er (with the expected reaction by the fans).
  • Now, these split headlights, while not being my cup of tea by any means, come also after a large number of manufacturers have adopted them: Citroen, Hyundai, Jeep, Skoda, Nissan, Mitsubishi... All of them lesser brands compared to BMW.
Who knows, had this trend been started by Ferrari, Porsche or any other top brand, BMW adopting it as well might have been easier in my eyes.

Not a fan neither of the double screen interior set up being the same one MB has been using for some good number of years neither. Hopully the rearlights are not merged my a LED a lot of other car manufacturers are doing these days.

It will be interesting to witness how BMWs' conservative 3-Box architecture fares against its' German competitions' far more progressive exterior design/packaging:

long light bar on THE 7 apparently?
Shades of E60 on how the shoulder “edges” before plunging down a flat surface.

That picture reminds me of a 1980’s Nissan Laurel..front is nice and fresh, rear not so much.

Why do people crop or remove watermarks logos???

I agree that people shouldn't remove the watermarks from things, but instagram is messy garbage, and as someone who prefers to browse on a desktop, why they limit images to 600px wide is beyond me. I mean, what is this Windows 3.11 VGA again?

tried to render the front end... sorry for the tacky photoshop lol

These new fronts of the 7 series, X7, X8, it seems that if they are going to work, they are becoming very rational, very modern and attractive, they are pleasant and groundbraking at the same time

Thanks for your great contribution to this topic. If this render and the one on the previous page are anything to go by I think we have a new generation of cars that will look very modern without having to revert to fully new shapes like EQS. In terms of overall look it will look more advanced than many BEV’s that currently exist and really express the transformational phase that the automotive industry is in.

i just realized that actually 2002 hommage concept had really similar front end design with the split headlights...
maybe they hinted they were going with this design route back then ?

I think they are going in circles, rediscovering their old designs by accident as oppose to bringing light onto a decade old master plan no one knew about

Not saying this about yuc4life, but I would not be surprissed if stuff lile this is somehow rediscovered by the most inconditional fans to try to justify the departure from BMW's traditional design language and the adoption of certain elements of cheaper brands.

These ‘certain posts’ are here indeed to offend so just giving you what you are looking for.
