The G11/G12 pre LCI was Australia and New Zealand which started filming around this time early 2015.
However COVID restrictions elsewhere in the world has opened the door to being more Euro-inclusive on media shoot locations such as the XM Concept in Bulgaria and iXM60 in Iceland and Hamburg.

Hamburg's Hafen City with its' Elbphilharmonie trademark has become a very popular venue for the production of automotive industry promotional films. I've often seen VAG filming at or near the Sandtorkai in the adjacent Speicherstadt.

I feel like BMW is about to completely dominate the ICE segment for the rest of it's days. Polarizing designs and if all the new engines are true, searing performance, and all the tech possible. While Mercedes shuts down ICE making ICE buyers miserable or leave the brand.

So very, very true. As a long-time S-Class owner, I could not agree more. Mercedes put everything into the EQS and left the W223 S-Class with what remained. It took some effort to break my long MB tradition but I made the move and couldn't be happier with my M850i. As usual, Merc1 has made a most poignant point about the future of the S-Class and BMW's excellent position, going forward. My next car will likely be the new 7-Series.

And @Mr. Mercedes did the exact opposite. We have cars to everyone's liking, and we'll see who sells more cars in 5 years.

Once again I had to google, summer europe is between June and September.
As if I put you, that the i5 will be presented in the Asian spring

90% of people on this planet have summer when you do not have summer. You are in a very small minority here, Summer Europe is summer for near everyone on earth.

My point wasn't necessarily about the S_Class itself which I still find to be a highly desirable car, it's about Mercedes overall. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they're half assing a lot of their ICE vehicles during this transition phase and I feel like they should make their last ICE vehicles the best they can be, especially if you're going to make fewer models. The decision to not include the I6 in the new C-Class is terrible IMO. Why build a new C if you're going to hobble it. I like BMW's approach better, one more round of new engines and ICE vehicles before they change over to all EV vehicles, while not short changing the last/remaining ICE vehicles in the process. My only problem with the S-Class is the screen behind the driver and the lack of real buttons and those buttons that are there are the haptic kind where you press one and all of them move. That's so cheap to me. Mercedes made the best buttons and seat controls in the business for decades. I say ditch the FWD stuff and make the remaining RWD vehicles the best ICE vehicles possible and then for the love of god find a new design direction for the EV vehicles lol.

Since 2016, Mercedes has completely renewed its engine generation. BMW is just getting started. first OM654 (4 cylinder diesel), then OM656 (6 cylinder diesel) and M256 (6 cylinder petrol). In 2021, the last member of the family, the M254 (4 cylinder petrol), was added. AMG brought the M139 (new 4-cylinder petrol) engine. The 4-liter V8 did not receive any major updates.

Yup and no looking back. The S450 is a far more satisfying LUXURY ownership experience than the M850i. Sure I miss the sporty elements of the BMW (Engine, driving position etc.), but that's not the point. I'll have something else in the garage soon to better scratch that itch.

So here we are, 128 pages of discussions on the G70/ G71 and no particular leaks on the final car other than the baseball seats with Eames’ loungechair headrest.

I find it pretty amazing we have no leaks yet..... But we've also seen the rear screen layout, and a large part of the side view.

You’re right on that one but as this was presented by BMW on CES it’s a peek instead of a leak. Think everyone is curious about front and rear of the car, at least I am.

But, I'm from Mars, summer doesn't exist here

"Mercedes will present a new model"
Which one?
"Here in Germany we all know which one because Mercedes is from here"
Ok thanks ....

Below is a shot of the rear of the i7 xdrive 50 with M-Sport package with the least amount of "fake panel" camouflage we've seen up to this particular point in time. You can now get a better idea of what the rear of the G70 will look like.

Below is a pic of the rear of the G70 but this time without the M-sport package. You can clearly see the difference between the M-sport lower rear facia and the regular rear facia.

Lastly, below is a closeup of the non-MSport front facia. Here you can clearly see both the lower outline of the kidneys and their lower structure. The level 2 driver assistance hardware/sensors will move up from the lower air dam (where they currently reside in most BMWs) to the middle of the kidney grill (similar to iX)

Perhaps I missed it...

Any word on the i7s' drag coefficient ?

It's looking f'ing fantastic! I cannot wait to see this car completely own the segment.

But pictures of a completely covered up test car in a windtunnel is nothing but PR, right? Testing a cladded car in a wind tunnel makes little sense.

Yeah, I also think the meaningful aero testing would have been done much earlier on in development. Very much just a shot for PR I'd have thought.
