Manual gearbox and internal combustion engine? Are they mad?! Don't they know that BEV is the future?! :rolleyes.doodle:

Perhaps because BEV isn't the future. Electrification is, which means that if Renault sticks a 48v motor in it, it already counts as an "electric car".

BEVs will only be made to meet a quota imposed by the EU mafia.

This isn't really a press release though, is it? A press release is an official (and often) detailed statement from a manufacturer describing the overall concept or product.
This is more of an announcement.

You are talking to yourself and not nobody is listening.
If you think BEV isn't the future, you're no living in reality at all.

ICE will be banned in the EU in a few years. End of the decade and it's over. Your ICE will be worth NOTHING anymore. Better sell it soon.

The French imo still don't know how to maker a proper SUV. Pretty weird after two decades of SUV boom. Thebn again the French only recently joined the party.....

I mean it looks decent, but for a crossover at best.

And that's weird, because Renault owns Nissan and they could just stick a Renault badge on a Nissan Xterra and call it Renault Amazone.

^ Nissan appears to have a love affair with MB for trucks/pick-ups ;)

Renault's new head honcho Luca de Meo, who has successfully spearheaded Seat's Cupra sub-brand strategy, now wants to do the same with Alpine; killing the R.S. (i.e. Renault Sport) sub-brand and slapping the Alpine badge on every future Renault with a sporty flavor (be it a legit hot hatch or a pedestrian model with a barely cosmetic sports package). While at the same time wishing to turn Alpine itself into a sports-premium brand with multiple EV models... which would first require image building through exclusivity. We can see Alpine's A logo in blue here on the front fender of Renault's new Austral C-SUV.

Makes sense. Push the brand, establish, create spinoff, create share holder value. Just look at Volvo and Polestar (the many Geely brands being spun off, SPACCed, IPOed actually), Ford with their two companies, Mercedes Benz, Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi

It actually looks quite good from the outside.

Sadly, the interiors continues the nowadays very common practice of slapping one or two huge screens in an otherwise grey and indifferent interior and then calling it a day. It's not good enough.
