A year and two friggin’ months after the 2015 Ford F-150 light-duty pickup truck debuted at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, Jalopnik acquired the first photograph of the heavily-anticipated 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty workhorse.

With the thirteenth generation of the F-Series, the Blue Oval pushed the envelope of full-size pickup trucks by swapping pig iron for military-grade aluminum alloys. Heck, the 2015 F-150 shed approximately 700 pounds (317 kilograms) over the former generation thanks to this solution.

In the case of its heavy-duty counterpart that abides to the Built Ford Tough promise, we expect the 2017 Ford F-250 to be less elephantine than the 5,941 lbs (2,694 kg) of the 2015 Ford F-250 SRW Regular Cab.

In Jalopnik’s Andrew P. Collins own words, “this picture came to us with no context or information, so no news on power, equipment, or capability,” so guess what? All anybody knows about the 2017 model year is nada, except for how the 2017 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 will look like when they’ll hit Stateside dealerships.

Without a shadow of doubt, the 6.2 V8 gas-fed engine and the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel will be carried over by the new-gen, albeit with minor enhancements. Chevy and Ram will certainly not like FoMoCo’s aluminum-laden full-size heavy-duty truck though. Tough luck, guys!

One day I shall move to USA and buy myself an F450 and stick a "Don't thread on me" sticker in the back then rev the Ford's dirty great V8 diesel next to Prius drivers and watch their windows burst.

After this workout I would feed the Ford with a nice medium rare Fortwo or maybe a 500 if it's in the mood for some Italian food.

Cool! They should have called it: SUPER CHIEF. Mind you my favourite looker is the GMC Sierra truck range. Not even a Phantom has more presence.

How much bigger is this compared to a "regular" F150?

I saw one (F150) two days ago (on diplomatic plates) and it was twice the size of everything else on the road. It felt really massive amongst the fleet of A and B segment cars that fill my city's centre.
