Surprised that many feel that these cars are ugly.I think they both look great especially against the X5 and ML,but looks are subjective of course, the BMW looks better inside and out to me ,the GLE 63 should look great judging from the spy pics. Watch Porsche, RR and Audi etc, release similar vehicles in the near future these cars have a market.

In my opinion, there's something fundamentally wrong with the way these cars look. They're simply hideous without any redeeming qualities whatsoever.
Of course, it's not like the true progenitor of the Sport Utility Coupe (SUC) class was a beauty either:

Exterior GLE
Interior X6

As for the interior I understand some people really don't like the GLE interior but as a owner of the ML I actually feel the interior is a very nice place to be in a SUV..I know the new interiors from MB like S and C are ahead of this in design but the GLE interior actually not bad at all in my opinion and is better then the ML.

i wish i could pick both of the last options (hate and don't care) and here's why:

i HATE that car manufacturers are focusing on these types of cars (merc jumping on the bandwagon when they should've left this class to die)

and I DON'T CARE about them as they'rwe pointless and have neither of the advantages of an estate or an SUV, but has the drawbacks of both

"buy an SUV coupe, you get none of the advantages of either class but all the drawbacks of both"

^how i can see it being marketed

advantages:....

disadvantages: high center of gravity, practicality, rear view, awkward boot (estate is better), less dynamical than a coupe or 5-series estate, fuel consumption (bigger frontal surface area), higher weight, isn't designed for off-road, rear headroom

Interior is a given, but the exterior on the X6 is better too, imo

MB had to do one thing, simply copy the X6. Yet they chose to make a Beetle XXL (ok, I kid, the GLE coupe looks pretty nice too)

Interestingly how much sleeker the non-M-pack (with black wheel arches, rocker panels, lower bumper parts) X6 looks compared to GLE Coupe. And it seems GLE Coupe won't even be offered in full body colored trim. Even the AMG & AMG Sport versions feature the black wheel arches, rocker panels & bumper parts).

Btw, the F16 X6 looks HUGE IRL but still surprisingly lean. Despite being bigger it looks sleeker than the E71 X6 yet somehow much, much more imposing. It's a very intimidating car. Sporty & aggressive pose? For sure! But very sexy & stylish it ain't ... it features rather more robust & very muscular look. I'm also not sure it still has the "SHOCK!" factor of the original E71 X6 - since we have got used to a such type of vehicle. Although it certainly looks more upscale - inside & outside - compared to E71. It's definitely a car to show off and to make an impression with. Still having that ultimate bada$$ karma. The front is very angry-looking while the rear is VERY muscular. Oh, and yes ... certain M Performance (eg. dark grille, dark mirror caps, large wheels etc) parts fit the car exceptionally well and make the car even sportier looking! The interior is superb! It looks VERY upscale & modern ... Even stylish. It almost makes you wanna lick it. ;) :D

Yet I have a feeling the GLE Coupe look will turn out to be quite sexy & classy due to its softer curves. More suitable for female population? I guess so. And I must admit MB made the AMG-Sport model VERY(!) stylish due to black accents & 22" optional great-looking wheels (not so the standard version of GLE Coupe though). I hope BMW offers 22" optional wheels for X6 very soon!

As said before: GLE Coupe for style, X6 for sport (and intimidation :D ).

The hoods on newer Mercedes all seem really high, or fat or something ? Does that make sense ? Compare it to the BMW there.

Yes it does make sense. It's because of their clamshell design. The shut line on the side is too low.

Tell you the truth, I like both. The larger Wheels (filling out the wheel wells at all 4-courners) combined with the slightly more aggressive front air-dam with it`s metal lip, make the Benz a bit more imposing in those last shots.
