Well...this is a surprise, wasn't expecting to see the new RX so quickly. We didn't even see any photos of prototypes undergoing testing. The Toyota version of the Lexus RX is called the Harrier in Japan. The Lexus version will have a different front bumper but that is about it.

Agreed. This looks more like something that would be badged a 'Toyota Highlander' in North America.

It's a Toyota Harrier, a Japanese model which was rebadged & sold as Lexus RX in other markets.

IMO, it looks very good. I'm sure it will get further treatment before it comes to US with Lexus emblem in future.

Looks like ass, but put a Lexus badge on it and it will sell like hotcakes in the US.

I can't see them shifting more than 1000 per year in europe though.

The current one is actually more attractive. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, Lexus design continues to go deeper down the toilet.

I think this is a JDM only proposition. I think Toyota's trying to milk the RX for as long as they can, so they came up with a mildly reworked so they can sell it through their Toyota channel. Toyota's made some questionable decisions, especially regarding Lexus, but the powers that be there would have dishwater for brains if they were to try to sell this as a "new" RX. This would also be against the ethos that Akio Toyoda is tryhing to foster in making Lexus more legitimate. They've made good strides with the GS and IS. Granted the LS is, well, less said, the better. But they would be dense to do this to the RX, considering it's their bread-and-butter in the States and development costs are well-spread considering how that platform and it's technology spread among Toyota's/Lexus's offerings.

Mind you, this all speculation on my part.

Yeah, I saw the IS350 F sport at the dealership and it is a mighty impressive car. Both inside and outside.

The interior feels like a fighter jet interior with everything focused to the driver and the seats are better than some Recaro racing seats I have sat inside.

The interior of the IS is filled with so many gimmicks! And the 'joystick' interface is an absolute joke as are the temperature control touch sensitive stripes. There's no tactile feedback whatsoever.

2016 Lexus RX could have three row seating

Could be introduced later next year
Lexus NX assistant chief engineer Kei-Ichi Nishiyama has revealed some new details about the next-generation RX.

Speaking to Car Advice, Nishiyama said the company is considering turning the model into a three row crossover because "There is lots of demand [for seven seats] from the US market.”

His sentiments were echoed by Lexus Australia chief executive Sean Hanley who told the publication “[Seven seats] has been under study. It’s certainly something we would desire, and it’s something we will strongly lobby for in the product pipeline of the future."

Little else is known about the next-generation RX but it could be introduced late next year as a 2016 model. It could also grow in size to help distance itself from the NX and to accommodate the aforementioned third row seat.

I guess, it's gonna be about as useful as a 911's rear seats for grown adults.

Besides the hideous wheels and the WTF placement of the shifter, I guess it's a good car. I'm still baffled as to why Lexus have incandescent turn signals front and rear...
LEDs should be a given.
