Avalon 2013 Toyota Avalon

The Toyota Avalon is a full-size sedan manufactured by Toyota, as its largest front-wheel drive sedan; also its flagship in the United States, Canada, China and the Middle East. The Avalon was also manufactured in Australia from April 2000 until June 2005, when it was replaced in November 2006 by the Aurion. The first production Avalon was manufactured in September 1994 at the TMMK assembly line in Georgetown, Kentucky, where subsequent generations have been manufactured.
It was the quality and reliability. It still is. Every Corolla I see on the road is driven by a person that is completely clueless about cars in general and couldn't care less about driving. All they want is point A-B transportation that won't require anything more than gas, insurance and and oil change. Toyota did that better than anyone else until they got so big that quality went out the window. Think about it, every car they make whether it is a Toyota or Lexus adheres to the same formula. Exceptions being the new Scion coupe, IS/IS-F and LFA. Oh and the new GS. Toyota traditionally = quiet, comfortable, sound proof, transportation with the utmost in reliability. For years they didn't even care what their cars looked like. Now that the Koreans, Ford and others have introduced style to the mix they're trying to come up with something that actually looks like something. Its usually a hit or miss thing, mainly misses. Other than the Lexus IS and LFA there is nothing there. Outside of the Scion FRS there is nothing for me at a Toyota store. Nothing. Cool with me, but the damn Corolla drivers need to get the hell out the left lane!

I actually like the Camry more than this. At least it's a more simple and cohesive 3-Box design, without the trendy, overused "teardrop greenhouse" look that IMO just doesn't sit as right, and that makes this not-proper-proportionaly-length FWD barge look totally odd and perplexed (stubby).

The new Camry I don't think is hideous, just "whatever" as it's supposed to be. Not as good a design as the previous Camry though, IMO. I actually think that, all things considered, that is a fairly well designed car.

A car is supposed to make the guy/girl inside it look good, it's supposed to be formed around them to look attractive, thus making them look attractive.

This is a case study in how to fail at that. It just makes it all look ugly.

"Toyota Avalon - Lower your ratings score a few notches".

:D

I agree. Once again, the Camry doesn't try to be edgy and something that it is not. There is nothing more impressive than conveying a sense of effortlessness (I think you said this), and this just seems like another desperate attempt. Toyota really needs to stop trying to be edgy, sporty, and aggressive when its practically the master at being conservative and simple (there's a huge market for this). They have over 30 years of experience being successful based on these simple reasons, and instead, they try to mash odd styling with radical treatments and medieval interiors. At least when I look at the Camry I see someone who's sensible and rational. When someone buys this at 41K, I really do wonder..

Looks good. Nice job Toyota. Imo, that front bumper grill looks enormous. This car will sure steal sales from her cousin, the ES. :usa7uh:

Interior does look weird. However, considering the fact that its a Toyota (an economy brand) will please & excite the regular Avalon buyers. ;)

Not at all my friend. Good taste shall always prevail! :D

Is our eternal battle, captain! "K-A and associates. Fighting for good taste since 1886" :P

Hahaha. Dude, I was sitting there thinking "damn, I've seen that somewhere" and now you're shown me where. Talk about tracing paper design. Also, that interior is HORRIBLE.

:D You're welcome, buddy.

Regards!

That thing looks preposterous. Like a poor bloated old man got dressed in Ed Hardy clothing.... and they drew a thin black mustache on him.

It actually looks half decent. The Avalon of thev1990's...now those were terrible.

2013 Toyota Avalon - World’s First to Use Qi Wireless In-Car Charging

While wireless charging is becoming increasingly common, especially for home use, we are not at all surprised to see the technology make an appearance in a car. However, it`s not a GM product, as we were thinking (they were one of the first to show off the tech in a car) - it is the new 2013 Toyota Avalon.

The system is available on the Avalon as part of a Technology Package which is available on both the regular variant, as well as the hybrid. The wireless charging system is built into the lower part of the car’s center console, and Qi-enabled devices just adhere to it and begin charging, after the user has pressed the button to activate it.

It works with virtually all new phones, which have the Qi wireless charging system built into them, and this means that all the latest models are supported. Even mp3 players, gaming controllers, alarm clocks and some battery packs can be charged in this way.

Pioneering the ability to charge with no wires or connectors by simply putting devices in the car console is an intuitive innovation which reflects Toyota’s continuing commitment to improve the consumer experience [ . . . ] We see wireless charging as an important feature that helps enhance the high-technology theme and consumer interface offered by Avalon Limited which is already equipped with three TFT color screens and Intellitouch™ controls,” Said Randy Stephens, chief engineer of the Avalon.
