SLS 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Coupe and Roadster

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (C197 / R197) is a front mid-engine, 2-seater, limited production sports car developed by the Mercedes-AMG division of Mercedes-Benz, with the assistance of David Coulthard. The car is the successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. SLS stands for "Super Leicht Sport" (Super Light Sport).
Where do you get the 616HP figure here? Press release says 583, +20 change from current. Unless you are talking about the Black Series, for which you would not have any evidence yet.

But yea, you are right it is 'only' 583HP, guess they got the heading wrong.

2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is the New F1 Safety Ca

Mercedes-Benz has upgraded its F1 Safety Car replacing the SLS AMG with the newer SLS AMG GT. The GT evolution of the gull-wing model made its first appearance in a race situation at this month's 2012 Formula 1 Shell Belgian Grand Prix and will also be deployed at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix.
The GT model comes with improved driving dynamics, better on-track performance, a 20Hp boost for a total of 583hp (591PS) from its 6.2-liter V8 and new design features such as the darkened headlamps and taillights and the grille finish.
The changes over the regular production model are kept to a minimum and include a specially developed and more sonorous rear silencer, F1 decals, safety lights on the rear window, bucket seats with six-point seat belts, two central screens that allow the driver and co-pilot to monitor the progress of the race and a radio system to communicate with the organizers.
The F1 Safety Car is sent onto the track as soon as Race Control considers that the safe progress of the race may be impeded. Poor weather conditions or accidents are the main reasons for its deployment. In the 2012 season, the Mercedes-Benz Safety Car has been called in for action six times to date, with the drivers spending a total of 138.1 km (85.8 miles) under Safety Car conditions.

Disclaimer: We have absolutely the slightest idea of what the Kojak-looking guy from Motorvision said about the GT-version of the SLS AMG in the video above.

Obviously, it didn't stop us from enjoying the footage with the volume way above normal comfort levels, for two major reasons:
  • One: Motorvision probably have one of the best mic/sound setups of any car testers that shoot videos;
  • Two: The M159 naturally-aspirated V8 of the SLS AMG (GT or not) is one of the best sounding production engines in history.
The snaps, crackles and pops of the exhaust at full throttle are enough to give someone an addiction, so we're not even sorry for posting a video of which we don't understand a single word being spoken.

The GT version of the SLS AMG is simply the first step you take if you're not ready enough for the craziness of the Black Series. With 591 hp instead of “just” 571, 3.7 second from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) instead of 3.8 and a top speed that's electronically limited to 320 km/h (199 mph) instead of the “puny” 317 km/h (197 mph) of the “regular” SLS AMG, the GT model is like a pizza with extra everything. It's still the same pizza, only a bit better and more of it in all aspects.
