Your next laptop will likely be rubbish. The profit margins are terribly slim for laptop manufacturers and because all manufacturers use the same components, the only area where margins can be squeezed is build quality. If manufacturers could, they would make laptop out of cardboard or styrofoam but thankfully consumer laws are in place to stop that.
Before buying a new laptop, my advice is to pay a visit to the forum of notebookreview.com. It's the world biggest laptop forum. If a certain laptop model is a lemon then you can bet that there will be a 40 page long thread on the forum brimming with annoyed owners. Just about every laptop model is discussed on the site.
Sadly for Asus, HP, Dell and everyone else, many people are buying tablets in favour of laptops. This will push even more pressure of manufacturing quality for manufacturers without successful tablets to compensate for poor laptop sales.
