F1 2012 Canadian GP

The increase in track temperature really swung things Red Bull's way. They are fastest this weekend followed by Ferrari and then Mclaren. Kimis struggle with steering is painful to see. I hope teams drive Canada the way it should be and not all go for a one stopper which is a strong possibility this weekend.

i think its going to be a 3 stop strategy, especially with hot temperature sunday, the supersoft tyres will melt. i hope hamilton finds some good pace and not get screwed by the team.

His best hope is to go for one stop more than Ferrari and Red Bull and try to blitz them that one, or else he'll finish 4th behind Webber.

Canada oh Canada oh Canada. What a mind blowing race from start to finish. Full on racing and adrenalin. Lewis is Canada commander. He won his first race there, the year after he crashed into Kimi in the pit lane, the third year he won, fourth year crashed into Button and fifth year it's a victory. And even better none of his rivals were on the podium today.

What were Ferrari and Red Bull thinking. One stopping in Canada is risky business. Overtaking is easy so if someone is on fresher tyres they can mug you from far which is what Grojean and Perez did. Owever they two stopped too and managed to make it work. Bummer for Schumi, his bad luck this season is out of this world.

oh man u got it right, and he stopped just at the right time.

ferrari is sooo stupid to keep Alonso out, dropped from first back to fifth. even vettel payed the price.

anyways the result was exactly what i wanted, alonso and vettel outside the podium, and hamilton win :D superb win!

oh and poor schumacher. merc seriously get out of F1!!!! just keep the great engines lol

Lewis is a racer and the strategy they chose was perfect for him. He enjoys chasing and Canada is one of those circuits that brings the best out of natural born racers. Interestingly Kimi and Grosjean are almost tied on points. I am a Grosjean fan and would be delighted if he creamed Kim this season.

Merc had a relatively decent stint for Nico however their performs race to race is inconsistent. Button though is in the gutter. I don't kow whether it's because he miss the EDB but he needs to get his act together. Lewis is giving him one hell of a spanking. His prime tyres he started on flopped badly.

FINALLY! Great race for Hamilton.
Glad Alfonzo and Vettel were off the podium.

Poor Schumi and Button.

Hamilton got the first of his 18 career F1 victories in Montreal in 2007 and won it again in 2010. He became only the third driver to win the race three times, after Michael Schumacher who had seven wins from 1994 to 2004 and Nelson Piquet who had three between 1982 and 1991.

Force India and Toro Rosso have completely missed out on the tyre lottery and have been left behind. Kudos to Di Resta for being consistent. His time will come.

Best race so far IMO, Hamilton asked if the others would be pitting and they assured him they would, in the end only Vettel did but they were correct that both team would need to pit to remain competitive at the end of the race and Ferrari and Alonso paid the price.

Not only did Hamilton show himself to be a true champion this weekend but it also showed just how wide open this years champion could be and with Lotus/Sauber coming second/third that the race isn't over until that chequered flag is waved.

After Mclaren failing to tell Lewis in Monaco that Vettel was going to mug him, Lewis was a true Canada Commander yesterday, constantly on the radio asking the team for intel.

The Pirelli lottery favored Renault and Mclaren this weekend. I cannot remember the last time I saw Lewis being able to push like its the end of the world, and set purples lap after lap. A one stopper would have worked for Alonso and Vettel had they not spent the first stint tugging with Lewis over position.

Great race, I stayed up to 6am to watch the entire race live, well worth it.
It is great to see world class drivers in evenly matched cars, fighting so closely to each other on the track. For a track that has a reputation of being hard on tyres I am surprised to see cars only pitting once or twice. Lewis drove superbly well all weekend so the win was well deserved, it was close though his two pit stops were not trouble free. They are still having some small issues with the right rear at the 2nd pit stop. I thought Vettel had the race in the bag until the end of the first round of pit stops. He was so much faster than anyone else in qualifying and he was pulling away from the rest, but then Lewis and Alonso were just preserving their tyres. I was expecting Vettel and Alonso to pit for a 2nd time, considering a complete pit stop will only cost them 14 sec. Red Bull and Ferrari were too optimistic.

Merc had a relatively decent stint for Nico however their performs race to race is inconsistent. Button though is in the gutter. I don't kow whether it's because he miss the EDB but he needs to get his act together. Lewis is giving him one hell of a spanking. His prime tyres he started on flopped badly.
I was surprised by Mer's lack of pace. it is probably down to the tyres again. Button's sudden slump in form is quite amusing, he is driving even worse than Massa. I noticed that ever since the introduction of the new higher nose, Button has been all at sea while Lewis's performance has picked up dramatically. Perhaps the car's handling characteristics are to Button's liking at all.

You would think world championship winning drivers can adapt their driving style and drive around anything, but as we have seen so far, it doesn't seem to be the case, well perhaps not Alonso.
