Hey guys,

I am new here so I am not sure if this is the right section, but I am looking for a new car and have been decided between these two for a while. Would love to hear your opinions. I am a young guy in university and this is my friend luxury car, so I am trying to be really careful making this decision. I test-drove both cars numerous times. The BMW has a very nice sound and the mercedes has a bit of turbo lag, but I still love the merc engine just as much. I really like the BMW sport line seats, they have a very nice cushion for the neck, but also like the mercedes bucket seat. I have been at this for a while, if someone has one of these cars (2010-2012) could you tell me how you like it so far? I am in Canada if that matters.

edit: Forgot to mention. The bmw is the new facelifted sedan, not the coupe.

3-Series. C Coupe is relatively fugly, IMO. Though, a E90 3-Sedan isn't anything to write home about, IMO, it's a more thorough and executed design, especially with the newest facelift stuff.

I'd take the C Sedan over it, though. ;)

You'd take the c-class sedan over the 3 series, yet you don't like the coupe? To me to coupe just seems to be a more elegant version of a sedan.

I personally don't like the Coupe. I personally think the Coupe aspect of it (they only changed the greenhouse, so it being the greenhouse) looks downmarket and cheap in comparison.

Any reason as to why the C-Coupe is in play but not the 3 Coupe? I'd take the 3 Coupe over a C Coupe, and possibly a C Sedan over all the choices (with tough combat from the 3 Coupe). I think the C Sedan is a very solid design for a car in that class, no real awkward points.

The 3 series coupe is getting a facelift soon. I don't really feel like buying a brand new car and that will be considered old in a few months when the new facelifted 3 series coupe comes out.

Don't really understand how you can like the C sedan and hate the C coupe. The coupe is the sedan with a slicker profile and sportier seats, isnt it? Are you saying that you don't like the coupe, because its too similar to the sedan?

Check out the Thread "with the title "W205" in it, it's all explained there. :D

I just think it looks like a cheap attempt at a Coupe. Yes, the Sedan proportions are too intact for it to look elegant as a Coupe. The greenhouse reminds me of an Accord Coupe, or Pontiac Sunfire Coupe, with that "Econobox" upright (for a Coupe) door frame (instead of a true Coupe elegant frameless door), the doors aren't long enough for a Coupe, thus making he rear window too long, etc. etc. All in all, it looks more like a "Coupe version of a Sedan" than a true Coupe. Some might like that, but I personally prefer a Sedan's look in that sense. It looks "off" to me, but it is truly a "C Coupe" in every sense of the word, so if you like the Sedan, and want simply 2 doors and a lower roofline, the Coupe should be a great fit for you. I personally think the Sedan looks more premium.

The e92/93 already got it's LCI/Facelift ;)

K-A, I think the starter of the thread means the F30 by saying facelifted and not the E90LCI. I might be wrong tho :)

I think the BMW´s engine will kick the ass of MB´s.

I was thinking that as well.

Because obviously it would make no sense if he's concerned about a new E92 but not the already replaced E90.

In that case, I'd probably take the F30 then, definitely over the C-Coupe at least.

I have no idea what any of those letter-number combinations are :D. Basically, I don't wanna get the 3series coupe cause its getting a facelift soon. The sedan already got a pretty nice facelift, so I am considering that as well as the c-class.

I dunno, It makes it look really dull; tones down some of the detailing of the headlighst and kidneys. Obviously, it's all subjetive :)

Regards!

Now I know we are talking about the F30 :)
Get the BMW 3-series - F30 and you won't regret about anything :)

Yea thats the one I am talking about and I kinda agree its not too sharp in silver imo.

So the 3-series definitely has better performance?

The C Sedan is the best looking of the bunch here, IMO.

However, the F30 (new 3) should be the best overall buy, considering your criteria.

.... Or just wait a year and get the "4-Series" (3-Coupe). I doubt you'd be sorry. It'll absolutely slaughter the C-Coupe in the looks department, unless they completely fumble it.

I am now looking into the sedan as per your advice, but I don't understand why people on this forum keep saying that its about to change. It just had a facelift this year, how can it have another one so soon? Is it worth waiting for? I am guessing its going to make the current C-sedan look really outdated.
