It was very ironic that ever since he flatly rejected Jackie Steward's offer to become his driving coach, Grosjean has gone from one mistake to another, and then finally caused this embarrassing disaster. As for Maldonado, someone at Williams must sit down with him and set him straight right now. He is quick, but extremely reckless, it is really not good for Williams to keep him because he is costing the team very dearly in points, prize money and repair costs.

What is with Lewis lately, he seems to be even more outspoken and agitated than before. What makes him think posting the graph of his telemetry on twitter is a good idea, was it his way of saying "look it wasn't my fault I qualify 0.4sec off Jenson, my team stuffed me up"? I think it is time for him to learn to keep things behind close doors. Look at Schumacher, he has remained supportive and positive of his team even though the car is slow and not reliable.

Grosjean is beyond mistakes. I think his problems are chronical. He even mentioned that often it's been a case of misjudgement. He seem to have a disability in judging braking distance as well as being spatially aware of his and other drivers space. I guess he should pick up that business card given to him by Jackie :D

Williams can't do anything about Maldonado. In every relationship there is a party who needs the other more, in this case Williams need Maldonado more than they need him. He brings in 30-45 million so there is not much they can say to him.

Lewis has been incredibly vocal and communicative about his feelings to fans. I guess he was super frustrated about the wrong setup but shit happens and he made a bad call there.

The crash was out of control, straight out of a Michael Bay movie.

Maldonado doesn't need anybody else around to have a crash. He's quite capable of doing that on his own.

The funny things is the team gave him a choice and he he chose the old wing cause of the lack of testing on Friday. During quali he finds out the new wing on Button's is much better and decides to bitch about it on Twitter. What a dick move!

On the other end of the spectrum of moves - Kimi's move on Shucmacher on the outside at Eua Rouge. What a masterful move waiting for the DRS detection zone to pass, in order not get passed back on the Kemmel straight.

Oh man I loved it, very nice and clean, u can see by his steering action on the curb how he try's to give Schumacher enough room there, kimi is really known with epic moves, like back in 2006 how he overtook webber in Monaco, that was untouchable.

He doesn't want to but might. There is an historial stand-off between him and Ron Dennis. Lewis wants either of the following.

  • Be able to keep his own trophies(Yes, Mclaren drivers don't keep the drivers they win).
  • Get more money.
  • Be allowed personal sponsors on overall or helmets.
Uncle Ron doesn't seem to want to bulge on any of the points which is why both parties have yet to kiss and seal 2013. There are rumors buzzing about hiw possibly going to Mercedes. I dislike it. Preferably he should take a sabbatical year at Williams or Lotus in wait for the end of 2013 which is when Vettel, Webber and Massa's contracts will likely expire.

Hamilton will not go to Ferrari, didn't turn out well last time he was partnered with Alfonzo.

Hamilton: No decision yet

Lewis Hamilton has refused to commit to McLaren, saying his only goal is to win, he just needs to "to think of the right place to do so"...
Despite having been with McLaren since making his Formula One debut in 2007, and one could argue even longer given his past relationship with Ron Dennis, Hamilton has yet to sign on the dotted line.
McLaren have reportedly offered the Brit a $100m contract to race for them for five seasons but still no signature has been forthcoming as Hamilton weighs up his options.
One option could be Mercedes who are believed to be parting ways with Michael Schumacher at the end of this year. However, already all parties have denied that Hamilton is on his way.
That, though, didn't stop the questions from coming in Thursday's FIA press conference ahead of Monza.
Asked about the advantages of racing for Mercedes, Hamilton said: "I've no idea, I've not really thought about it.
"I drive for McLaren, we've won the last two grands prix, we've another big race coming up and that's what I need to focus on."
Pressed as to what his criteria are for next season, the Brit said: "I want to win. Just need to think of the right place to do so."
But for now, Hamilton says he's not thinking about the future, he's only focus in this weekend's Italian GP.
"I have a great weekend ahead of me and that's what I'm going to focus on," he said.
"I don't have a deadline (for a decision). Obviously before next season would be useful. I'm in a great position and I just need to focus on the preparations for these races.
"There is a long way to go before the end of the season. Jenson (Button) has shown we have great potential in our car and team and that's what I need to focus on."
The 27-year-old also downplayed the Twitter saga from Spa which resulted in McLaren asking him to delete a tweet he had posted that revealed sensitive telemetry data.
"Nothing happened, the head of the PR department asked me to take it off, so I did.
"I haven't spoken to Jenson about it and don't plan to. We've on from it. Obviously it wasn't the best thing to do and it won't happen again."

Everyone knows that Mclaren is the only place for him, so stop this silly games, sign the contract and concentrate on driving.

Correction: Mclaren is the only top team with an available seat.

He would love to be at Ferrari but there Alonso/Santander can pretty much veto any driver decision and Red Bull has committed to Webber for another season.

Hamilton's only choice is there for Mclaren. A short term contract with an exit clause is likely what he wants in addition to trophies and the opposite of a pay cut while Mclaren don't want to give him trophies and wants to seal him for a long term.

Personally I wouldn't mind Lewis going to Lotus or Williams for 2013 in wait for opportunities to pen at Red Bull or Ferrari for the 2014 season.

Well, here is a good place to start... stop being a dick to your now team. He is an awesome driver, which makes it even more sad, but I seriously hope Mclaren gives him the boot after all his antics. He always had the McLaren golden spoon in his mouth. May be a stint in a second tier team will teach him some humility. And probably some entertaining passing for us.

That part is also true but I really don't see him leaving Mclaren, he grew up with the team, they have achieved great success together, and even though he hasn't been in close contention in the world championship race ever since he victory in 2008, he is still winning races, the Mclaren team is still consistently in the top 3. It is the team that will give him the best chance to win another WDC in the long term. Other teams might look more attractive at the moment but Mclaren still has one of the best facilities, and the people to keep the team competitive at the top end of the field.

Not sure if Lewis will have the 'leadership qualities' that Ferrari is looking for. They cut Kimi loose because of this, and judging by Hamilton recent and past troubles it is not likely that Ferrari will consider him as their number 1 choice. As for Red Bull, they have Vettel so they don't really need Lewis.

Going to Lotus or Williams might be good for him, it will remind him of all the things he had back in Mclaren. As for the trophies, even Prost and Senna didn't get to keep theirs.

Among all the world champions on the grid, Lewis is the most vocal about his team and he has been involved in the highest number of incidents. Look at Alonso, he used to moan and complain but ever since he moved to Ferrari, he has harden up and drives the wheel off whatever crap he was given, without a word of complain. Jenson only complains about his car, but never the team. Schumacher has never said anything bad about Mercedes, even after all these technical failures and strategic errors made by the team this season. Vettel bitches as well but never about the team. As for Kimi, we all know what he is like.

Yea, couldn't agree more. That is why I doubt despite all the talent behind the wheel, Hamilton will ever be multi-world champion. Building a team and moulding it around you is as vital in winning championships as much as raw speed -Schumacher, Alonso, Vettel are all good at this. It could be a youth thing, but he is freaking 27 already and his bitching and moaning just seems to get worse. Having said that, he is probably a good bet for this weekend :).

I think its terrible that Mclaren drivers don't get to keep all their trophies, especially when Alonso got to keep his at Renault and even got to keep a car, the same applies to Button at Brawn. Lewis has earned £15-25 million a year for the past year but also gets everything else paid for, so he doesn't even have to touch his salary. He's got more money than he will ever be able to spend and now trophies matter more than ever. The have emotional value and financial value unlike a replica dummies given to him by Ron.

Mclaren is a good team for him but the last time they had a championship winning car was in 2007 and 2008. In 2009 Brawn dominated and it took Mclaren until the second half of 2012 to figure out how to make the double diffuser work. By then Red Bull had perfected it and were starting to work on other things like blowing diffusers, bendy front wings and ride-height that no one managed to figure out - all of that led to a dominant 2011.

2012 started well for Mclaren. Lewis was a pole many times by the team had several pit stop gaffes and the car was atrocious in the wet. Lewis is just frustrated. But this is the frustration that many drivers experience many times over before they get to sit inside a top car.

One reason why Lewis should look to change team is that 2014 is around the corner and that will entail regulation changes, sometime that Adrian Newey relish like no other. There will be an engine war and being in the camp of a manufacturer like Ferrari and Mercedes could be an advantage. Mclaren might still be running Mercedes engines in 2014 or opt for PURE engines but either way, it's always a little bit more advantageous to drive for the team that manufacture the engine.

This is apparently Mclaren's tradition, I suppose Ron thinks no driver should be above the team, Senna and Prost included. I am sure Lewis can ask for a car or two.

So I guess Lewis is going through his career in the reverse process?

Newey doesn't always get it right, same with Brawn, both of them has their hit and misses, right now Newey has found his sweet spot but there is no guarantee that he will find it once again when F1 move to a new set of regulations.

We will see. In any relationship there is always one party who needs the other party more than they need them. This will be a hard nut to crack for Lewis. I have been at one of Ron Dennis' parties in his house and you wouldn't believe what a self assured, part-time obsessive compulsory possessive perfectionist he if - which you have to be in order to run a successful empire like he has done.

Then again Lewis knows his value, he is absolute blockbuster and is marketable beyond most top driver. It will interesting to see where this saga till end because both parties don't really want each other but there's no better choice for either at this particular moment.

RedBulls also keeps all the trophies. Vettel has replicas made for all the ones he wins. McLaren could do the same, heck everyone could.

yea thats exactly what mclaren should do, theres no way mclaren will agree on hamiltons terms. IMO what hamiltons asking for is abit too much. he should just settle with what he can do settle with the team and win races. and if you think about drivers come and go but the teams like mclaren will stay for waaaay longer. the history is what matters

A driver is only marketable when he keeps performing, right now Lewis is still driving well but he has to get his emotions under control and not let it affect his performance too much like how it happened last year. I believe Mclaren wants Lewis to drive for them, however I am not sure if Lewis still wants to be part of the team, it is like a teenager wanting to move away from home.
