Obviously it won't have round lights anymore...
:t-cheers:

A mistake IMO. Mercedes cars should have a common look, but they don't need to be small, medium, large copies of each other. The E needs to keep its now trademark round lights, IMO.

I understand, but you know well what happened with BMWs design several years ago and what's the result? :D

True, success after a few tries. I don't want the next E to be like the 2002 7-Series, a disaster.

Disaster turned out in the best selling 7 series ever...;)

Yeah, but it was just too ugly until the facelift and even afterwards I still wouldn't pick it over the S, A8, and others in that class. Sales aren't the end-all to everything, nor do they mean it was a good looking car. Interesting, bold, technology-laden, yes...but pretty it wasn't.

Agreed!

Then why does it sell so good today and why did it sell so well even before FL?

Lemme tell ya: 'Cause it's the ultimate driving machine! (ok, a little bit of fanboyism, but still, i'm right :D)

It sells well because it is a BMW, not because buyers of a large luxury car are throwing it around corners and what not. Actually just sells ok in the U.S. nothing to write home about. Also, it was new and very different from the previous car, some people have to have the latest and greatest, no matter what it looks like. Truth is the average person's (non-enthusiast) idea of a good looking car probably isn't shared by you or I.

Re: New 2009 E-Class (Spy Pics & Details).

How many times did i say that the design doesn't sell the car...?:D

:t-cheers:

Its hard to say whether or not it does or doesn't. The 2002 7-Series had a bold look which I know some people found irresistable. They loved it, thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. So in a sense the design does sell the car, to some people. Others were attracted to the whole idrive concept (I know a few) and others were just BMW fanboys, would buy it no matter what it looked like. It varies. Design most definitely sells cars, but only to some people. There is absolutely no accounting for taste when it comes to design. One person sees a hideous vehicle the other sees a work of art.

Re: New 2009 E-Class (Spy Pics & Details).

Ok, i'll correct myself: Design isn't the 1st and main thing when I go for a car.... Many others think the same obviously and 7er is the best example.

What do you go for? What is the main thing that draws you to a car?

Re: New 2009 E-Class (Spy Pics & Details).

Safety, engines, equipment, driving dynamics...Design!

:t-cheers:

I see. I look at everything, but only if I like the design/styling. I won't buy an ugly or bland car no matter how safe, fast, etc. etc. it is. There is no time for boring/bland/ugly cars no matter how well done they are in other areas. That said there are always exceptions to that rule, but those excepts are about as rare as hen's teeth.

Re: New 2009 E-Class (Spy Pics & Details).

Mercedes was the one who started the 4 headlight theme on modern car design. If i can remember correctly, the 4 eyes look 1st appear on the CLK concept back in 1993. Lexus has obviousely copied it since. Idiots and lexus fanboys will accuse Mercedes of copying Lexus when the new E-class is launched, but the new E will look like the way it is because of years of design evolution, not because Mercedes has suddeny decided to copy Lexus.

According to spy photos, the new E will look nothing like the silver photoshop.

The Lexus fanboys can talk smack all they want. The 4-eyed look was out when Lexus wasn't even around yet. :usa7uh:

So this is what I have to say to the Lexus fanboys: PWNED. :eusa_danc
