So I've had the good fortune to traipse around the Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) this afternoon, exhibitor's pass in pocket one day prior to the show opening its doors officially. It's going to be a belter!
Unlike the slightly poor turnout at Sydney this year, the JIMS expo has all the major players present. Heck, get this - even we're getting a Koenigsegg too...
The exhibitors have pulled out the stops and most of them occupy their regular stand positions. Some highlights of the show include (in no particular order - and only those that I can remember):
Audi's new stand design is stunning - easily the pick of the show - and the emphasis is white white white and just an itty bitty bit o' black. All of the cars on the stand are white (which means that I'm in heaven) barring a black Q7 and an RS6 sedan. The rest:
Q5 (!) looking resplendent on blingy large-diameter turbine-style rims
TTS Roadster
S3 Sportback - duck my fog - it's so hot
A3 Cabrio
A4 3.2 quattro
S5
R8
BMW's stand as usual is the epitome of its corporate persona. Very stylish.
Notable models:
F01 7er (two models; one a 750i, the other badge I didn't get to see...)
X6 Active Hybrid
Renault's hot little Twingo RS is there, so too is the new Laguna Coupe and the Koleos SUV.
VW brought the Scirocco along to show us Southern plebs - I wonder if it will be sold here. Very impressive in the metal. Lovely, rich metallic red on the show car. Interestingly it's shown in LHD format which is odd to me.
Mercedes Benz' stand is impressive as always with a dedicated section to AMG. I only saw something under wraps but I reckon we'll see the motor show debut of the SL 65 AMG Black Series.
I gawked for half-an-hour over Nissan's GT-R - the first I've seen. So much better in real life!
GM have surprised with both the new Camaro concept as well as the stunning Corvette Z06. Sadly it's just an evil tease - no RHD production being slated.
430 Scuderia will be there
Aston Martin DBS is resplendent in white
... more to follow.

...and your opinion on the new 7er.
