Yesterday, we showed you a handful of spy pics featuring the production version of Hyundai’s Genesis luxury sedan (click here) which we described as BMW 5-Series crossed with a Lexus LS. Sorry, but we’ll take that back now that we discovered a new set of images fully exposing the Genesis; this is no cross, this is literally a “Koreanized” version of the BMW 5-Series! And you thought that only the Chinese would attempt something like this…

However, Hyundai won’t be imitating BMW in terms of pricing by charging an arm and a leg for the Genesis when it goes on sale shortly after its debut at the Detroit Show in January 2008. According to Hyundai, prices will start well-under $30,000 (approx. €20,500), or in other words, as much as BMW charges for the 3-Series sedan. And mind you, the rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan won’t be short of power as it will be equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 engine producing over 300 HP.

PS: I didn't made up the title, i've only copied it... But i agree with them.;)

:t-cheers:

Yep, the rear says BMW 5-Series like no other car currently on the market. ;)

As for the rest, not too shabby. I think they should have created a larger version based on the Azera. Now that car looks good.

Oh my god, copying taken to a new level. The side/rear profile is pure 5-Series, the front is nearly an exact duplicate of the first generation LS400. Yikes. Are they seriously going to do this? Respect lost.

Is there any way we can re-arrange the pics here so the thread isn't a mile wide?

BMW should also sue Honda for the new Accord...excuse me, Honda 5-Series. ;)

Couldnt agree more... something should be done :t-banghea

the wheels on the Hyundai also seem to be a knock off of the BMW M5 and the 19inch X5 wheels if my eye sight serves me well...

I think Autoblog said it in a great way:

What do you get when you cross a Lexus LS460 and and a BMW 5-Series (plus a healthy dollop of Toyota Crown -Ed.)? You get what appears to be the production Hyundai Genesis sedan. The front end looks as though it was ripped right off of the most expensive Lexus, with a strikingly similar set of headlights, a spot-on grille, and similar brightwork. Only the lower fascia wanders from the LS460. Out back, it appears that Hyundai took a pass on the classic Lexus C-pillar, but the Korean automaker's designers were obviously fond of the BMW 5-Series.

I think it looks good, much nicer than the Camry. Don't dig the profile though. Overall it's a little bit of everything, Lexus LS, 5er and Infiniti.

More pics:

Can you say Benz W220 and first generation LS400 in bed together?

I wouldn't be surprised if this trunklid would fit (without modification) right onto a BMW 5-Series. I mean really this level of copying
is absurd.
