F1 2008 Bahrain GP

Formula 1 news, races, teams, drivers, technology, strategy, and discussion.
There was much talk before the start of this season that this might be the year that Kubica would take the next step. To me this is a good sign that those predictions might be true.

It's pretty safe to say that BMW are going to win the race, that is unless they somehow screw up or Kubica becomes a victim of the dust laying on the track. Kubica is too fast for Massa or Hamilton to pass so I doubt they'll attempt some risky move on him. Like we have seen quite a few times Mclaren are lousy at pit and tire strategies which is why I don't count on Hamilton finishing any higher than 3rd.

Well deserved pole for Kubica and BMW. I think Kubica definitely has it in him to win tomorrow, but not sure if BMW has the race pace especially if Massa gets the jump at the start. Would be fantastic if they do win though.

A high pace throughout the race will be essential, especially when when there is a chance that Kimi might make one less stop than everyone else. This race will be BMW's ultimate test to find out if their car and pilots are ready and capable of competing at the highest level.

I bet that Alonso is feeling really frustrated for not being down in the mix with all the other top drivers.

I don't know if he has what it takes to win but I'm hoping for the best. I was so glad to see everyone in the BMW pit so happy. All that hard is finally paying off :usa7uh:

Very good job by the BMW Sauber team but I think Kubica has less fuel on board than anyone else in top 5. Kimi and Hamilton have the most fuel. All that means is that, unless Ferrari or McLaren have a technical problem or an accident there is no way Kubica can win the race.

I doubt Robert will win, the Ferrari is just too quick.

I don't think I've ever seen Mario this happy!

Just wait until K wins the race! :eusa_pray

IMHO, it's either Ferrari or there;s a slim chance a Mclaren taking the win here. Massa's surely lighter than Kimster. so don't about write off the other guys winning it.

I don't think Massa likes the lack of traction control, I don't see much chances for him. I have always rooted for McLaren Mercedes, but my heart is also with Kubica who I still have fresh in my mind how he duked it out against Massa in the last corners of last year's Japan GP. I saw Heidfeld being fairly consistent last year, even if he didn't reach the top three, you could always see him really close to the top three. Wish better luck for Sebastien Bourdais too.

Glad to see Robert Kubica on the podium, BMW is the team to watch this season.
McLaren- my goodness, this has to be a disaster for them...

Kudos to Ferrari and BMW!:eusa_clap Both teams did a great job.:usa7uh:

Yet another boring race.
Unbelivable that in 2006 there were 39 overtakings here. I like to know the idiot that said banning electronics will make things better. With the wake turbulence on these cars they'll need even more electronics then last year to ever overtake each other. :t-banghea:t-banghea:t-banghea

The only good thing is that McLaren is falling even faster then I have imagined. Right now it's a Ferrari vs. BMW race.:t-cheers:

this is also how i feel about that race

Okay guys, this is it, the last day of the honey moon. Now all the teams have had the chance to properly put their new cars to the test, they know where they are on the hierarchy and the drivers are used to the absence of traction control.

A few points of my observations:

-Like we have seen in Malysia and Bahrain the F2008 is blistering fast leaving everyone in the dust. Ferrari has got a superb car and might be untouchable unless Mclaren fix their reliability.

-To be honest I was a bit disappointed with BMW's performance. I expected Kubica so keep Kimi and Massa behind him for at least 5-10 laps. As it looks now BMW won't win the driver's championship or be THE team to beat. But their consistency and capability will allow they to disturb and steal vital point from Mclaren and Ferrari when ever either of the two top teams have one of their usual bad weekends.

-Alonso has a notorious history for foul play and I would love to see his data from the incident with Hamilton. It wouldn't surprise me if the collision was a fabrication of Alonso. Either way that happens when you do a terrible start. Hamilton can't allow himself to drop several point right into the mix. It's very easy to get into trouble with a Red Bull, Honda or Toyota. He did a far worse start compared with the one he did in Malysia.

BMW guys just rocked, but even if i knew from the begining that a win wasn't possible, i excpected a better start from Robert but he said that had much wheel spin and didn't see the oil and debris on track and that's why he lost to kimi so all in all the 2 guys did a fantastic job, seeing Nick overtaking kova was just amazing and our pace was undoubtly superior to maclaren who sucked this week end. BMW Power indeed.
