The president of BMW Canada was quoted in the Globe talking about the 1-series coming to Canada in 2008, but it won't be the present 1-series from Europe. He also says that diesels engines will enter Canada in 2008 as well.

I really like this part

"We really think that there is room beneath the 3-series for an entry-level BMW," Mr. Duffield said in an interview yesterday after a conference. "Authentic, true BMW, at a price point that will allow people to get into the brand younger, and once they get into the brand, we can move them up and keep them there."

Just what I was hoping for, contrary to what some of the sources have been saying, and what would be the smart move for BMW. It seems that there's some real authenticity to this report. i hope 2008 means all of North America and not just Canada. I'm keeping my hopes up for '08.:t-cheers:

Not necessarily... hatches are much more popular in Canada then in the US, so it's not guaranteed.

It would be amazing if BMW brought a diesel engine to canada in the 1 series. Maybe the 120D or the same diesel engine in the 330d....lets hope for that and more choices
