A 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo that was purchased new by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is scheduled to cross the auction block in Vienna, Austria, on June 6th of this year.
Story has it that Gates, a well-known Porsche enthusiast, purchased the 911 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, shortly after he founded Microsoft with partner Paul Allen. He drove the car to Seattle, Washington, when he relocated the company and reportedly got three speeding tickets in the same night. He was subsequently arrested and bailed out by Allen.

Gates sold the 911 in the early 1990s and it made its way to Austria, where it is still registered today. Despite being in the European Union the car is still equipped with most of its U.S.-specific features.
The 911 comes with a thick stack of receipts that give an accurate description of the work that was recently performed on it. This includes a full rebuild of the 3.3-liter air-cooled flat-six engine and a new paint job in the original color.
Bidding for the 911 will open up at €15,000 ($21,000). Dorotheum estimates that it will sell for anywhere between €39,000 and €50,000, which equates to roughly $55,500 to $71,000.

That's a fine car that should sell for a respectable but not inflated price.

Nice one. Though the bid winner will likely just store it as a garage queen.
