W460 "Geländewagen" 1979 Mercedes W460 G Wagon Offroad Development


The first generation Geländewagen (or G-Wagen). Introduced in 1979, it was originally developed as a military off-road vehicle. There were many derivations that overlapped with its next generation, including the G-Wagen W462 ELBO (1988–2005). Officially succeeded in 1990 by the W463 G-Class, and in 1992 by the W461 (military variant). Production: 1979-1990.
