Success for the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class: More than 100,000 Units Delivered to Customers

* Positive customer response as an impressive proof of the success of Mercedes-Benz’ product strategy

* U.S. and Germany are the top sales markets for the four-door coupe

* CLS 350 CGI offers world’s first direct-injection gasoline engine, cutting fuel consumption by ten percent despite higher performance

Mercedes-Benz is reporting very positive results for its CLS-Class: More than 100,000 units of the innovative four-door coupe have been delivered to customers around the world since the vehicle was launched in October 2004. “The CLS-Class combines the elegant design vocabulary and dynamics of a coupe with the comfort and functionality of a sedan in a completely unmatched way,” says Dr. Klaus Maier, Executive Vice President Mercedes Car Group, responsible for Sales and Marketing. “The extraordinarily positive customer response to a model that is still unique underscores Mercedes-Benz’ role as a trendsetter in the development of new vehicle concepts and impressively demonstrates the success of our product strategy.”

Demand for the CLS is particularly high in the U.S., where about 27,000 units have been sold since the vehicle was introduced to the market in January 2005. The second most important market for the four-door coupe is Germany accounting for about 20 percent of global sales. The most popular engine version in Germany last year was the CLS 320 CDI, which was chosen by more than half of the customers.

Since the end of June 2006, Mercedes-Benz has also offered the CLS-Class with the world’s first direct-injection gasoline engine with a spray-guided combustion process. Due to this pioneering injection system, the CLS 350 CGI consumes ten percent less fuel than the highly efficient V6 gasoline engine with duct injection, while at the same time considerably boosting engine performance by 15 kW/ 20 hp. The advanced technology, which will soon be offered in the E-Class as well, already enables the CLS 350 CGI to meet future emissions limits

Congrats to MB! The CLS is definitely a beautiful car. No questions about that. Well deserved result for MB.

This could only mean one thing, facelift time! Funny thing is I couldn't stand this:

when I first saw it!

I still cant stand it, CLS must be the worst looking car coming from Mercedes. Its really hideous IMHO.

It ain't for everybody but at least MB knows that there are more than 100 000 people who likes it.

Sorry haters. But 100.000 CLS owners can't be wrong.

Whether you like the styling of this or not, the Mercedes CLS has made an statement in the motoring arena and you definitely have to accept the fact it's a successful and charismatic car.

And it shows how very powerful Mercedes influence still is. Everyone frorm Porsche to VW, BMW, Audi and Aston-Martin are developing "4-door coupes". If that doesn't validate this car nothing does.

I accept that the car exist and people like or dislike the car but personally the design hasnt grown on me. Im just talking about my personal opinion and its not baised on others.
I have a freedom of speech and I sniff my voice, the car isnt for me. :usa7uh:

*TROLL ALERT!*

Folks, you know what to do...

C'mon, Kowalski... That was uncalled for...

Why would one be called a troll just because he doesn't like certain car? C'mon, man, i'm sure that's not your style...;)

:t-cheers:

Good for MB..setting new trends as always..
and to think that some fools on forums belived some years ago that MB will go under..lol..

Just_Me.

Sorry mate, my bad. But at least give the Kudos to Mercedes-Benz for this achievement.

Just say it - "The CLS is not my type of car, but Kudos to Mercedes-Benz anyway."

You see? It's not really that difficult. :usa7uh:

Ok must be a missunderstanding here. I'm only talking about the design of this car and its one man's opinion - mine that is.
Im not talking about anything else.

I liked the concept very much when it was presented. The car looks stunning in some pics but when I saw it in real life, I was surprised that it doesn't stand out more than a regular E-Class. It doesn't have so much "presence" but it's still a nice car.
