This front end already looks much better than the X5´s one.

Amazing Rendering Concept - A lot of families would be happy about a BMW with the possibilty of 3 IsoFix for the rear seats...

Its functional but because they have a long wheelbase to play with they can play with the dynamics of the roof line more.
The X7 arrives at the same time as the X3 so the X3 will provide the preview for the more angular appearance for X vehicles that will develop from the G11 series.

The BMW X family will get a new member in 2018. The BMW X7 will be the largest Sports Activity Vehicle offered by the Munich-based automaker and will take on the highly successful Mercedes-Benz GL. The renderings below attempt to gives a look at what the final exterior design might look like.

The large premium SUV will be built upon the new car architecture that BMW announced recently and will share many of its components with other X models.

The BMW X7 will come with some new features and a modern design, so we expect to see a larger than usual kidney grille, a massive front bumper with large air intakes and an elegant look from the side. Inside space and luxury will also be one of the main design points.

It is also expected to pack the most technology ever seen in a BMW X vehicle, starting with plenty driving assistance and safety features, and a multitude of gadgets inside the cabin.

Under the hood, the BMW X7 would most likely use the X6 engines, from a 3.0 liter six-cylinder powerplant to the 4.4 V8 with 555 horsepower.

Early projections put the sales of the BMW X7 between 40,000 and 50,000 units a year with the main markets being China, United States and Russia.

It seems BMWblog took the X1 photoshop from an earlier AutoBild report and made a X7 report around of the photoshop.
After your object, Scott, I saw the X1 badge at the rearside of the "X7". Embarrassing for me. :notworthy:

That X1 render looks so boring. Basically the same car with different front. I highly doubt BMW go that route.

Unfortunately they can no longer go that route even if they want to.
It will now have a longer front overhang and will be more X3/5 like in proportions.
We've already seen the car under camo.

New X7 render but looks more like an extended X5 so far. The proportions look alright but that's it.
If they do an X5L like they are doing an X1L and and an X3L which I will talk about soon. Then it would be appropriate to offer this render as that proposal. The actual front end is not an X5 and there are plenty of details to distinguish the X7 from an X5. This is just lazy but then again there is not much information about the X7 available from a design perspective yet.

BMW X7 mule spied for the first time
Production model is slated for 2017 or 2018
Our spies have snapped the first pictures of a BMW X7 development mule.

Caught undergoing testing in Germany, the mule is based on the 2016 7-Series and features a variety of weights to help simulate the added bulk of the crossover. This might sound a little strange but Maserati is using a similar approach to test the 2016 Levante.

BMW has been coy on specifications but the test mule effectively confirms the X7 will ride on the same platform that underpins the next-generation 7-Series. This likely means engines will be shared among the models so expect to see the familiar six- and eight-cylinder options. There have also been rumors about a V12 and plug-in hybrid variant but nothing is official as of yet.

The BMW X7 will be built in Spartanburg, South Carolina and the model is expected to be launched in 2017 or 2018.

Usual whistleblower Scott26 came out today with a spicy bit of information regarding all future X models. Yes, we’re talking about the SUV part of the brand.

Autobild says the X7 will cost about 125.000 EUR.

You may be right in wondering now that the car is confirmed to use the same architecture as the 7er , which in turn will feature on the Rolls-Royce SUV and that car must have a V12 for its market. What about a V12 X7?

Well the plan is to offer such a model but some decisions relate to through the BMW individual programme which in turn will be low volume and highly exclusive and fulfils eventual plans to bring in a bespoke service to BMW individual. Using existing architecture etc...
The proposal for the 9er relates to such a programme as the first completely bespoke BMW that will not be manufactured in volume or indeed sold from every BMW dealer.
