Concept BMW Vision Future Luxury Concept

Future car concepts, design studies, upcoming tech, and what may come next
Don't forget that we have the Villa D'Este Concept coming soon in a few weeks.
I don't know what it looks like in reality just some sketches but what I have been told is that its another piece of the jigsaw of BMWs push upmarket in non-current segments.
The industry rumor has it the Villa d'Este Concept is a 6-seat futuristic crosover, done in collaboration with Bertone.

The Mini is great, is just what I expected and just what they should do.
But scott and Eni clearly speak of a BMW .....

The MINI is a push to expand the brand in non conventional segments. We do not really have a MINI sports car and although there is a MINI Coupe and Roadster they are simply variants of the standard MINI. So it is an example of the thinking at BMW to make something truly individual , like the upcoming Clubman , Countryman and Sedan to further establish MINI as a more adventurous brand but still offer appeal and attraction to gain new customers.
Although the MINI Vision is a vision for now it embodies a spirit that some want to capture to really add a progressive , sportier edge at an opposite bookend for MINI.

Between all BMW brands such as MINI , BMW Motorrad ,BMWi , BMW M and Rolls-Royce there will be expansion that many thought were impossible for a company like BMW but it was just a matter of time and that time has brought a new engineering philosophy to make many new models become a reality.

Vision Future Luxury and the MINI show how deep the rabbit hole can go.

Why all this MINI talk in a BMW thread? We are all expecting a BMW concept.
Yes indeed. Of course BMW will never be the "king of concepts" and the VFL is very nice, but I guess I hoped for another collaboration between an Italian designing company and BMW.

Not sure what happened with the BMW Concept by Bertone after Bertone had filed for bankruptcy in March & all the activities had been stopped. Obviously the project was halted & waiting for the Bertone revival under a new owner / investor.

It was officially Bertone's project after all ... just like eg. the previous BMW Concept projects by Zagato & Pininfarina.

Perhaps it could make it to Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance in August. If a new investor / owner for Bertone is to be found soon & the project can then be restored instantly.

Hahah, yea right. I am not buying this at all.

Either way, BMW should just stick to it's own design team. I don't want no BMW designed by some crappy Italian design house. I buy something from Italy if I want Italian. Like how I don't ask for pizza in a sushi bar.

I liked the Gran Lusso Coupe though...

Latest Villa d'Este concepts with BMW badge were projects of famous Italian design houses: 2012 BMW Zagato Coupe concept (based on Z4) done by Zagato, 2013 BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe (based on 7er) done by Pininafrina, while 2014 concept was a collaboration project with Bertone.

But in March Bertone Design Studio filed for bankruptcy, and all the business & creative activities by Bertone has been stopped since then ... and the court is trying to find a new owner / buyer for the troubled company. Still hasn't found it ... but there are 8 potential investors who are interested to invest into the company.

With still fresh VFL Concept it was clear BMW would bring it to Villa d'Este. And it has NEVER been hinted there will be another pure BMW Concept Car there. I've told you there will be a BMW Bertone concept (based on X1) ... but it was obviously a victim of Bertone's bankruptcy.

But as said: when an investor is found, the company will restore all the activities, and the BMW Bertone project will go on - I'm sure with BMW's (financial) help as well ... and if we are lucky it may be presented @ Pebble Beach in August.

And @EnI and @SCOTT27 wonder why people get annoyed by their posts.

If you don't want people venting their anger in your directions then don't hype things up. If it's 99% likely to happen, then be prepared for that 1% where it might not happen.

Simple fact is. Nobody is forcing you to reveal things in advance. You just like the attention beforehand without being prepared for the backlash when you get it wrong. You can't have it both ways.

@Busty is the only BMW insider as far as I'm concerned.

I have always asked for respect for Eni and SCOTT because the are not less than the rest of the members by any means. I have also said quite a few times that people tend to be too harsh with them. BUT, having said that, you cannot hype people to expect a concept when there is nothing. That´s it. Probably both SCOTT and EnI knew the concept was a MINI one which, honestly, very few people here cares about compared to the expectation for a new BMW concept. And the fact that they might knew it and kept the hype is what makes us feel disappointed.

We know each others for a long time now guys, I think we deserve to be hyped when the hype is for real. We don´t deserve to be treated like a bunch of idiots on the internet that serve BMW for internal marketing studies or whatever.

It's quite simple. I don't expect anything. I'm not even asking ENI or Scott to post.

However, if they CHOOSE to post things that later turn out to be rubbish, then they shouldn't be surprised when some people feel they've been hoodwinked. If I were them, I'd only post something I knew was 100% guaranteed. If it's not 100%, then I'd think twice.

Anyway, this is off-topic and it will be my last off-topic post in this thread. (y)

Once again many prove they choose or not to read.

I was not there , I would be involved in other promotional activities in Cannes before heading to Paris for a weekend break with my wife. Not for the Circus for a blow-up doll though. Although it was fun watching the z-listers and hanger-ons being chauffeured in the new S-Klasse. And not a single Rolls-Royce.

Another thing The Concepts that are at the BMW run Concorso d' eleganza are collaborations. Two separate studios contributing to a vision that reflects both but a test run to test the balance of creativity against a proposal under discussion. But it remains a collaboration because BMW would do the production car in-house instead of outsourcing.
These concepts are purely exercises to bring a balance between a manufacturer and a coach builder or design studio.
If you are hoping for a super sports car? Would you rather not want it to be an in-house design?

Regarding the MINI, it reflects the brand perfectly of what we want to accomplish with MINI by its 20th anniversary.
There will be a more fluent and individual sports car to replace the Coupe and Roadster and it will be a complete contrast to the BMW Z1 and Z2 which will progress their post futuristic appearance from the Vision Connected Drive concept car.
MINI is the best brand to experiment with concepts because it attracts reaction from a wide demographic and the reaction against the new concept is astounding. But as per MINI it is a brand that cannot stand still , so it has to motivate and innovate new ideas to keep the brand progressing - compare to another brand that has sat on its hands for the last decade.

No we were not waiting for a super sports car at all. We were expecting a BMW concept, because you made us believe so. And I would want to see every car with a BMW roundel to come from BMW internal design teams, concepts included.

And we have a Mini section for the Mini stuff. I understand you want to post it here because nobody is interested in Mini anymore, but still, the Mini Superleggera has it's own thread.

because nobody is interested in Mini anymore, but still, the Mini Superleggera has it's own thread.[/QUOTE]

I do not think so either, Mini and Rolls Royce are the reflection of BMW success in every way, these brands are BMW in the respective market sectors and none of its competitors have this benefit and this Mini concept prove once more the way to go, we're just upset because there was a mistake by stating that BMW could present a new concept.
These presentations are so secret that few people know for sure, by what I see
