X5 M / X6 M Your predictions on X6 M

The X5 M is the high-performance variant of the X5. In April 2009, the X6 M version was announced, with a 408 kW (547 hp) version of the BMW S63 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The BMW X5 M and X6 M are the first vehicles from BMW M GmbH to have xDrive all-wheel-drive system and automatic transmissions, and are also crossovers as opposed to passenger cars.

I'm guessing around 530bhp if BMW won't to win the HP war, but I voted for 551+ because that would be a very interesting car to drive:D:usa7uh:

IIRC the TTV8 is good for about 562p. so thats what the M5/M6 will get.....maybe:eusa_doh::D

About 540 hp could be realistic, but I think the car will get less. Maybe around 527 hp.

i belive it will be just over 500
like 507 510 515

The X6 is a SUV, a heavy car which means that torque is what's going to thrust the car forward and not HP. With the engine being turbo charged it's going to develop a whole lot of torque at an output level of 500-520hp which I suspect is the range in which the figure will land. Andreas closest to reality except that rev limit will probably be a few 100 revolutions lower. Remember that BMW wants this X6 to be a proper M car which is why they will be going for concentration and focus rather than sheer HP output.

I reckon torque will either be 500 ft.lbs, or more. This is the same engine as the one in the B7 and it is certainly capable of more.
For them to get more revs, and HP they may limit the torque figures.
HP wise, I reckon north of 500 HP, my suspicion is that it will be between 525-570 hp.

The current Auto motor und Sport rates the X6 M at 460 hp......how reliable is this?

The figure could very well be correct. Some of are already puzzled by the X6s capabilities and it's speed in comparison with an ML or Cayenne with the same power.

A good example is the Xdrive50 which does 0-100km/h in 5.4sec which isn't very far from the 100hp more powerful Cayenne TT which reaches the same speed in 5.1sec. So realistically the X6-M would do more than fine with 460hp, especially since BMW are focusing a lot of efficiency. On the other hand the new, lighter and more agile Cayenne is just under 1.5 years away so 460hp might not hold up very well in 2010.

I wonder if the very same engine will be used in the forthcoming M5? Also wonder if they will use the M-DKG transmission on the X6.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
