The fastest I've gone while driving was 130 mph in my Audi TT that I don't have anymore. As I'm sure Matt can agree with, there isn't very many opportunities to go up to speeds like this on the highway back home. I got it up this far on the 101 going up to Santa Barbara when there wasn't any traffic. I didn't stay at speed very long because you tend to reel in cars very quickly that you couldn't even see before.

Yes its very difficult on American freeways especially in CA. The opportunities only occur late at night. Plus if you get caught going 90+ your license gets taken away from any where between a month and a year. If your caught at speeds of 130+, you can be thrown in jail.

my brother did 200 mph on the 605 freeway :D

edit: the fastest i did is 122 mph on a nissan MPV

I think I heard that. That is insane speed. 200mph on a CA freewaay is just crazy. Most people have never done that even if they live by the auto bahn. WOW.

its kinda unbellivable , but the ones who bellive r the ones who saw ...

My times are pretty modest...

~215 km/h in a rental Audi TT (in the Nevada desert)
~210 km/h in my old 325Ci (topped it, limiter kicked in)
~205 km/h in my bud's 1.8T Jetta (A4) (topped it too)

I have only done 180 km/h but it was daylight in the highway (that is leading to Athens) and there were a few other cars using the same road so... :D

130 mph in a W211 E55 AMG I was driving back to the dealership, not my own. The roads where i lived arent very fast, so its hard to get high-speeds...but this straight away was open so I just hit it.

How could u resist flooring it in an AMG? The acceleration was brutal...I don't normally drive that fast...

:D

:t-cheers:

170 mph in my Gallardo before my Dad said "that's enough"- felt good wanted to go for more

150 in my 2001 Z06 - scary front end lift

149 at the end of the back straight going into turn 17 at Sebring in my GT3- if only the straight was longer

I'm planning on doing the Utah Fast Pass this summer (unlimited speed open road event) in my 914-6 vintage racer (no speedometer in that one)

I know AMG-unit had a CLS55 with more than 600hp, I think thats the car.

Not impossible, but im sceptic of 200mph. Not saying he didn't achieve it, just curious as too which car, those speeds are more likely to be attained in a 700hp detuned 65 AMG. And still that would be a task without running out of room. Especially on public California Highway's.

the speedo probably showed 200mph but we all know they speedo isnt 100% accurate at those speeds.

never the less, I think he did it. Our freeways arent crowded when its super-late. Still it would be quite a feet, although on a tuned CLS 55 (kleeman stage 2 i think) its probably possible.

I believe there was a stock delimited SL65 that reached ~216mph on a track like Nardo. It's all really is down to the final gear ratio, the 55s have more than enough torque to get them to 200mph.

SL65 had a topspeed of 338km/h and SLR made it to 334km/h
