Your favorite past/ present BMW of all time???

-PAST: 5-Series E39, M5 E39, 7-Series E38, Z8, 8-Series E31, 6-Series E24, 3-Series E46

-PRESENT: M5 E60, 5-Series E60, 7-Series E65/66, Z4 Roadster/Coupé, M6 Coupé.

It's not that I hate the newer BMWs. Is just that I'm not really fond of them, like I usually to be in the past.

The older models feel more solid and they look good in any angle.

The new ones aren't as solid as the older ones, and they can look goofy depending of the angle you look at them (7-Series Rear-end, 5-Series nose

This in the best looking saloon BMW ever made IMO:

My favorite 5-Series ever.

Oh! And I love this one too...

The 8-Series is one of the most exhuberant BMWs ever made, along with the Z8.

Based on design i would say.

PAST: 8 Series and 3.0 CS
Present: ??

Past: E30 M3, the 635Csi (dunno what the chassi is called), E34, E39 and E46 M3 CSL

Present: E90 & E60

In its time, the facelifted E39 5er made the biggest impression on me, and was highly influential. BMW "angel eyes" were the start of something that would eventually become an industry-wide phenomenon of "optic jewelry."

I'm not sure if I have a favorite right now, but if I had to pick one it would be the E60 5er, provided it has sports body kit.

Optic Jewelry. I could never think of it! Osna, my friend, you are a genius!
:t-cheers:

Anyway, i also think that the E39 5 series was a benchmark for the automitive industry. It set new standards for engines and material and as for the design, i don't know if it was as controversial as the current 5er, but i definitely think that it was a new design direction.

I have to add one thing though. And this has to do with the E36 3 series. It was a very successful car for BMW and a very important one. Apart from it sold like hot cakes here, it was a new design direction for BMW. I think BMW drove away from the boring 80s design with this car. The coupe is very hot.

Yeah the E36 is a great car! Not sure but I think I''ve read somewhere that it's the same guy who has designed/participated in designing E36, E39 and E90. I think he's japanese. :)

The 3.5 CSL is my favorite:

Is the last one a radioremote controlled car?
:D It almost looks like one doesn't it? I actually remember the Isettas. One used to see them in the streets once upon a time (not so long ago).

My favorite classic has to be the 328 of course. Of the recent ones, the E39 5 series had the looks that could not be matched by its' contemporaries (excluding exotics naturally). And the best looker in the latest model series is the new 3 series car.
