Photography Your Best Automotive Photography

BTW, while we're still considering this C&C section/thread, I would also suggest creating the PHOTOSHOP BEFORE AND AFTER THREAD, where we could show the original and edited image and give detailed explanation on what we did so that others can learn. I find this way of learning very efficient and interesting. What do you guys think?

I love that idea as well Dom', because these days taking the photo is only half the job, post-processing really can turn a photo from ordinary to extraordinary.

I feel that we have pretty much have a positive consensus on both of these ideas, and I don't really see any grounds of objection by the mods/admin, so what I will now do is create 2 seperate threads in the Photography section so we as a group can discuss any rules related to both of these topics. Once we have had a discussion on these two ideas, we can go ahead and create 2 seperate threads, one for a Photo Feedback &Tips threads (I doubt we'll get to create an entire section), and another thread for Photoshop: Before & After thread.

Update:

I have now created 2 seperate discussion threads on the topics recently discussed in this thread.

Here are the links:

Please go to each of these threads to further discuss these ideas, and please feel free to give your suggestion, no matter how small. Everyone's collective thinking is only going to make these 2 ideas more beneficial for everyone, and inevitably improve everyone's photo-taking and post-processing talents!

:t-cheers:

Good picture Chris but I find the angle rather awkward.

Better angle would be lower down but landscape not portrait OR portrait but much closer to the outer light focusing in on the car in the background:cool:

Thanks for the input. ;)

But when I took this shot I wanted to show a portion of the W212 and the Ponton Mercedes picture in the background with the illuminating headlight. I also tilted the camera because I wanted to give the picture more character. I figured it would be a bland photo if it was a typical straight shot. :t-cheers:

A new shot, I took on sunday. I edited the contrast and the chroma…love the detais of the W212 and the blurry C219/CLS in the background…

and another shot! Here I also edited the contrast and chroma. Love the effect…but I will also try, how it will look like, when I cut the photo right below the chrome stripe of the W212!

Wholey sh!t ree, that first shot of the new E's light is absolutely freakin amazing!!! It's 100% brochure quality in terms of how you've captured the shot and the lighting and color enhancements you've given the photo. Seriously man, that is most definitely the BEST photo that you've posted here!! Great to see you got in close and used a very shallow depth of field to blur out the background.

As for the 2nd photo, it also is impressive, but I feel that the older E-class is taking up too much of the frame, and not enough focus is being put on the new E. You've posted a similar photo in the Car Comp' this week where the new C-class was too much in the frame, and in this one the old E-class is too much in the frame. Maybe if the new E's rear end took-up half of the frame, this photo would be just as awesome as the other photo above. Nonetheless, it's cool to see you like the 'desaturation of colors' effect in enhancing car photos, and having that cold-blue temperature tone to the photo makes it even cooler!

Love the second shot, Ree.

I like the temperature and composition of that second photo very much. The black W211 E-Class functions as a nice contrast to the silver W212 in my opinion. Contrasts are very useful in photographs of this type as they bring in some action and also create something that the human eye spots right away - thus they create interest. The only thing bothering me in the second shot is the silver car behind the black W211. I realize that these shots were taken at a dealership and you are at the mercy of what is going on there at the moment. I know how it feels, I always encounter such annoying instances where you see "that shot" but have a bunch of unwanted cars or objects visible in the background.

Just my opinion of course. :t-cheers:

1st one is great, it just bothers me that it's not focused good...i would also crop a little bit at the bottom of the photo! keep up the good job Julius!

Thanks for the input Dom.

I think it bothers me even more car is not in focus ... (!) =/

Good shots, DaSilva. I think the only thing wrong with the first two is the blurriness of the car. Did you set your area focus mode to dynamic? It helps. :t-cheers:
Thank you Wimmer, I can't remember what mode the camera was in.
All I know is that it was manual 100% ... either way..

Reason I've made the photo's like that is because of the blurryness..
Belive me the photo's has been through Photoshop!;)

There is nothing wrong with blurriness. Sometimes it even adds to the character of a photo. :t-cheers:

It's just that by default we are used to photographs of such nature being sharp etc. It always depends what the photographer wanted to do or show with the photo(s). :t-cheers:

I agree, bluriness does the trick many times:usa7uh:
I wanted my photos too look agressive and the obeject to look
"out of controll" I think I've got it quite well.. :)

Here's another shot just for comparing:
