Although it’s hardly new – it’s been in production since 2006 – the YES! Roaster will be coming to American and Canadian streets for the first time ever, and to kick off sales, the company is bringing the Roadster to the Chicago Autoshow. The company’s motto is “Pure driving pleasure,” and from the looks of the Roadster and its rap-sheet, it may just live up to the hype.

Following a time-honored formula of lightness-plus-power-equals-fun, Funk & Wille, the company behind the Roadster, make it available in two variants – the 3.2 and the 3.2 Turbo. The former is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.2L V6 generating 255hp and making the run to 60mph in 4.8s. The Turbo gets just what you’d expect – a turbocharger – and another 100hp, bringing the 0-60mph sprint down to just 3.8s, despite gaining 40kg (88lb) in the process. Top speed for the Turbo checks in right at 175mph. For the true fanatics out there, a further upgrade to the Turbo model is available: it jacks power up to 415hp and runs the speedo up against the 200mph mark. As for their weight, the regular 3.2 tips the scales at 890kg (1958lb), while the Turbo chalks up 930kg (2046lb).
Dealerships for North America will be announced at the end of February. The company has remained mum so far on pricing, but given the Roadster’s position in the performance sector, expect pricing similar to – if somewhat higher than - Lotus’s Elise and Exige.

Taylor-made hand manufacture

The production of the cars at the Funke and Will plant, established in 2001, strongly differs from the familiar mass output. Each YES!-Sportscar is a hand-manufactured unique vehicle to which the purchaser contribute to a large extent. Before completion, the fine tuning is made on-site together with the buyer to adapt the cars every detail to its subsequent owner: colour, special features, ideal sitting and switching position. Finally, when the taylor-made YES! is ready for delivery the purchaser receives instruction on the company’s 2.2 mile long test track, a former runway of an old military air field. After 7 years development-know-how for the YES! and several different vehicles for other vehicle producers and after the process of constant vehicle optimisation - the moment has come in 2006: the second generation of the YES!, the YES! Roadster 3.2 and the YES! Roadster 3.2 Turbo hits the road.
The YES! Roadster 3.2 as well as the 3.2 Turbo will keep the vehicle concept, since the YES! stands for an uncompromising driving machine with breathtaking performance data, with a curve craving chassis and a handling which will stick to our principles: PURE DRIVING PLEASURE.
As well as its predecessor, the YES! Roadster 3.2 is about a downright lightweight, which weighs less than 900 kg due to its aluminium-spaceframe and the used fibre-reinforced composites. Paired with 255 hp out of the new 3.2 liter-V6-motor it results in an attractive performance-weight ratio. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 4.9 seconds and a torque of 330 nm raises the YES! typical driving pleasure.
With the brand-new YES! Roadster 3.2 the Funke & Will AG advances to the segment of super sport cars. As much as 355 hp are being generated by originally same engine due to the turbocharger. This version impresses with 485 Nm and appeals especially to experienced drivers with a maximum speed of 281 km/h. The driver profits from an acceleration of 3.9 seconds in which he is catapulted to the famous 100 km/h threshold.
Beside the distinctive driving performance, security plays a main role for the new YES! Roadster 3.2. Therefore this time airbags for driver and co-driver as well as ABS are optionally available.
Fine materials in combination with Chrome and leather applications are assembled in the interior to a sporty unity. Optional equipment offer space for individualisation like for instance the navigation system or the 3-way-sound-system.
The YES! Roadster 3.2 is a handmade vehicle which is adapted to individual wishes of the customer. Optional for the customer are not only the paint, the interior equipment and the technical details (special equipment) but furthermore the pedals, the seat position and the position of the gear lever can be adapted to the customer body size as well.
Already characteristical for the YES! is the distinctive appearance. The design for the YES! Roadster 3.2 is again by the designer Oliver Schweizer, whereas this time even more attention was paid to the streamlined character of the vehicle and the down force. In comparison to its predecessor, the YES! Roadster 3.2 has grown significantly. A larger wheelbase and a bigger overhang at the front as well as at the back give the roadster a somewhat stretched and thrilling appearance. The wedgeshaped ascending side line and the racing accentuated wings remain striking attributes.
YES! is the result of passion, courage and visionary thinking. With its design and the puristic concept of a sports car reduced to the essential the YES! frees of the thinking that a car is just a means of transportation.
Also with the YES! Roadster 3.2, the Funke & Will AG, which already has been honoured with the German Entrepreneur Award, consolidates the image of Saxon art of engineering and assures the continuity of the Saxon manufacturing tradition.

GROSSENHAIN, Germany -- The YES! Roadster 3.2 will be on display during the 100th Chicago Autoshow from February 6th to February 17th 2008.

The current model is equipped with its own version of the Volkswagen Group's narrow angle 3.2-liter V6 motor. With its 255 hp, the 890 kg two-seater can accelerate to 60 m/h in just 4.8 seconds and gives you the driving pleasure typical of the YES!. If that's not enough for you, set your sights on the YES! Roadster 3.2 Turbo. With this turbo version, Funke & Will advance into the realm of super sports cars. Thanks to an exhaust gas turbocharger, the same original aggregate yields 355 hp, catapulting the driver of the merely 930 kg roadster from 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 175mph. A specially developed rear spoiler ensures the necessary downforce to keep the 355 hp safely on the road. If more power is required there is an option for a 415bhp upgrade pushing the YES! Roadster 3.2 turbo almost to the majic 200mph barrier.

Chicago 2008: Yes, oh YES! That's one beautiful roadster

It wasn't until we saw the YES! 3.2 Roadster today at the Chicago Auto Show that we remembered seeing it some time ago. Something about the orange 3.2 Turbo model rang a bell and we recalled that soggy day last June when we saw it in the pits at Goodwood. The YES! reps confirmed that we had indeed seen a Roadster at the Festival of Speed, shortly after it had been introduced as the replacement for the previous 1.8 model. The vehicles YES! is showing here in Chicago are the second generation Roadsters, in turbo and NA form. Now, lest you think these guys are bad at math, that 3.2 actually refers to the 3.2L V6 residing in the boot. Funke & Will AG, the folks behind YES!, have done a lot of development work on the car and now even offer it with an optional hard top for cold climates. But it's not really about the hardtop.

Fitted with the base 255HP version of the VW-sourced mill, this one-ton sportscar can hit 60 from a standstill in just 4.8 seconds. Think of it as a German built Lotus Elise S. And If that's not enough for you, they can slap a turbo on it for you so you can see how 355HP suits your needs. That will drop the 0-60 sprint below four seconds, but it can still be bettered by checking a few more boxes and opting for the full-tilt boogie 415HP version, said to be good for about 200MPH given enough track. If that sounds like your kind of thing and you like the way the YES! looks in the pics, know that the company would be more than happy to take your $77,995 for a base 3.2. The Turbo brings the base price to $97,995, and going for the 415 horse option will set you back an additional $7,995 on top of that. Gulp. Certainly a lot of coin, but for something that looks to be the wild love child of a Spyker and a Lotus, we're pretty sure they'll find at least a few takers Stateside.

PRESS RELEASE

The Next Generation – YES! Roadster 3.2 / YES! Roadster 3.2 Turbo

The second generation of YES! is larger and more individual than its predecessor and increases in comfort and safety leaving nothing to be desired. With the introduction of the YES! Roadster 3.2 in 2006, the Funke & Will AG in Grossenhain near Dresden/ Germany mark the start of the second generation of this unique sports car. The uncompromising vehicle was presented to the public for the first time at the international automobile show AMI in Leipzig in April of 2006. The overwhelmingly positive response from media, customers, experts and business partners reflects the great interest of the public in the puristic lightweight and proves once again the successful implementation of this concept, true to the motto: PURE DRIVING PLEASURE.

Due to the equally positive feedback from America, Funke & Will AG has extended distribution of the YES! Roadster 3.2 to North America this year. For this purpose the company has founded YES! North America Inc in 2006.

Car enthusiasts from all over the world, from New Zealand to the United States have expressed great interest in the individual two-seater with the unmistakable YES! design, as reflected by increasing sales. The design of the new YES! again shows the contours of the Stuttgart designer Oliver Schweizer. The striking features of the YES! sports car are retained in the wedge-shaped lateral contour and the racy front and rear fenders. The new generation, however, can be equipped with an optional hard top. The YES! can thus be transformed into a luxury coupe on cold days. The level of comfort was significantly raised in comparison with its predecessor. However extras such as heated seats and navigation system are available as option, because the weight of the sports car should be kept at a minimum. The interior of the new YES! was refined using high-quality materials and now, with the multi-media sound system, offers extraordinary sound enjoyment. In addition to the increased comfort, the new YES! has a longer wheel base and larger motor. The current model is equipped with a V6 Volkswagen motor.

Thanks to an exhaust gas turbocharger, the same original aggregate yields 355 hp, catapulting the driver of the merely 930 kg roadster to 60 m/h in just 3.8 seconds. A specially developed rear spoiler ensures the necessary contact pressure to keep the 355 hp safely on the road. The two thoroughbred sports cars with the attractive performance levels have been available since 2006 in other countries in all regions of the world such as New Zealand, Japan, Switzerland, United Kingdom, France and Spain, in addition to the local distribution partners in Germany. The domestic and international distribution network of Funke & Will AG has been continually built up and other competent partners will be added in the future. For this reason among others, the global vehicle manufacturer and DIN ISO certified engineering services provider Funke & Will AG is able to meet the high standards of YES! customers.
