Freaking Porsche with their Package charges, gotta love 'em.

For $15K, forget the X50 Package, you can buy a Used beater that has even more than 430 HP. :D

Yes, it's too much for a simple power boost.
Make the car lighter and then you can charge even more... and yeah probably that should be called GT3 :D

It's an expensive boost but it will be welcomed by the Orthodox Porsche enthusiasts who crave high power output but find the GT3 to be over the top of the Turbo to lack the perfect balance.

Looks like after the BMW Performance, then AMG Performance, now also Porsche offers power upgrades. 15K is hell alot, you'd not be far from a 911 GT3. Nonetheless, 430 PS is impressive for a Carrera S with a 3.8l. That is 113 PS/l, it is reaching GT3 territory.

FYI Porsche has offered powerkits for 911 models since a long way back. The powerkit is expensive but adding it to a car will make it barely more pricey than what Porsche would charge for a 911 GTS anyways.

Thanks. Didn't know that. They should give the Boxster/Cayman (981) also a powerkit that brings it up to 350 PS, like the 911 Carrera.

I knew a guy back in the day who had a new 996 Turbo with the X50 powerkit. That baby flew, I think it did 11's in that "stock" trim. I got into an accident in a street trace with it when we were both going stupidly racing in opposite directions. I was in a 5.0 Fox Body Mustang (Notchback), stripped with NO BUMPERS under the bumper covers (must have weighed only 2,500 lbs or less), and we barely missed each other head on (we swerved in time to just crumple each others fenders, inches away from a total disaster).

This is why I happily buy cushy Sedans with purposefully moderate Horsepower now. I don't trust myself.

Official topspeed figures:
308 km/h with manual gearbox (in a Carrera...)
306 km/h with PDK-gearbox

First real-world numbers by French Motorsport Magazine (X51 with manual gearbox):
  • 0-100 kph: 4,5 s (Carrera S by Sport Auto: 4,7 s)
  • 0-160 kph: 9,5 s (Carrera S by Sport Auto: 9,9 s)
  • 0-200 kph: 14,3 s (Carrera S by Sport Auto: 15,1 s)

The in-gear times are no better than the regular PDK's (with the same 6th gear ratio and final drive):

  • 80-150 kph in 6th gear in 14,5 s, the 400-hp-PDK version needs 14,8 sec.
  • 140-200 kph in 6th gear in 13,1 s, the 400-hp-PDK version needs 13,0 sec.
