WTO appoints BMW as official limousine provider.
BMW, one of the world's leading luxury automobile manufacturer, has been appointed official limousine provider for the heads of delegations from 148 members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) during the Sixth Ministerial Conference (MC6) of WTO to be held in Hong Kong in mid-December.
The announcement was made by Raymond Young, Hong Kong director-general of Trade and Industry at a car handover ceremony held in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on Tuesday.
He said the limousine provider has been chosen from several automobile manufacturers.
At the ceremony, Christoph Stark, regional president of BMW, said "we are once again highly honored to be chosen as the official limousine provider to prominent dignitaries at the upcoming WTO conference."
He said the BMW group has been providing official limousine services for numerous leaders at high-profile international conferences around the world, including WTO, APEC and Forbes summits.
He claimed that the 7 Series is internationally recognized as a benchmark of leadership.
Young said, the MC6 is important to both Hong Kong and the world. Any agreements made to further liberalize trade will benefit Hong Kong's economy and lift world poverty.
He said Hong Kong's hosting of the MC6 demonstrates Hong Kong's commitment and constructive contribution to the WTO, and provides an excellent opportunity to raise Hong Kong's international profile as a bastion of free trade and showcase Hong Kong as "Asia's World City."
The MC6, to be held in Hong Kong from Dec. 13 to 18, is expected to attract about 6,000 delegates, 3,000 correspondents and 2,000 representatives from non-governmental organizations.
