Concept WORLD PREMIERE: THE LEXUS LFA CONCEPT

I have read several articles where they're hinting that the V8 will wind up in other applications. This is from chats with Toyota execs.

I've read on other forum (Lexus and Toyota vehicles), that Toyota begin development of 4.0 l V8 TT long ago (7-8 years) and that engine was meant to go in Lexus F models. Since F models were cancelled development of the engine was put on backburner.

Later on a redesign of the engine cause a delay, detuning (problems with passing emission norm) etc.

I've read that at first plan was to go over 900 HP+ (hybrid+TT V8)

But after all the delays, emission problems, hybrid powertrain problems we got "new" 4.0 l V8 TT hybrid with "only" 650 HP.

I wonder how far into development this car is? Announcing it now along the gr gt will provide data on demand. Customers who want either will be enquiring with their dealers and Toyotas to find out whether there is a waiting list. Worst case, they could cancel the car or shove and ice into it.

I think he prefers Century to Lexus.

Lexus is essentially a failed brand. They didn't manage to infiltrate Europe, so it makes sense to try in different ways.

And yet it will probably beat the crap out of many more expensive higher powered cars.
And like others have mentioned, the car exists because of Toyota's passion for endurance racing. They wanted a proper GT3 car and now they've got one.

We will have to wait and see how that beating goes. There were some surprise in past from other Japanese brand.

There was such cars in past, less powerful (Nissan GTR, Honda NSX), that beat more powerful cars, and they were cheaper.

Wasn’t its main mission to be a USA brand? In Europe it never had important products like estates and hatchbacks. The hatchback was launched when the brand was already dying. It was too expensive and didn’t have engine options that were homogenous across other manufacturers.

Rave automotive press reviews when the first gen Lexus LS400 sedan was presented here in Germany some almost 36 years ago. But other than a shadow existence, it never managed to play a significant role in commercial terms. It remained an "exotic".

This Toyota will beat the flying crap out of many of its (on paper) competitors. 650 hp is more than enough.

No doubt its main mission was to be a global brand, with a strong presence in one of the world's largest car markets. Being a complete non factor was not on the cars 40 years ago when this was being planned.

If you can choose between the US and EU, you obviously choose the EU since it's much bigger.
