The one thing I have noticed is that the plastic cover is placed over the top of the turbos in the BMW, where else on the Mercedes, there are cooling ducts and channels directing cool air to the turbos, and the turbos themselves are partly uncovered.

I personally think both of them look cr@p compared to the Audi RS6 Plus engine cover

The new M5`s engine cover definitely looks like a modern day trash can lid.
Go ahead and give me negative marks for my opinion. Reason being it`s not connected to anything and looks like it could pop open with the push of button.
On the E63 engine, the plastic cover is connected with the intakes and you can see the turbo plumbing through it, looks more like a real performance engine compared to the M5 imo.

Once again, my vote goes to the E63 here.

I like the symmetry of the M5. the E63 looks a little weird having the ECU on the left side and the signature plate opposite it on the other side.
