I see I'm gonna have to speak slow and loud for you to follow ok, so here it goes, I-DIDN'T-SAY-ANYTHING-ABOUT-AUDI'S-SALES-COMPARED-TO-MERCEDES-OR-BMW. Ok, are ya still with me? I-WAS-SPEAKING-IN-REGARDS-TO-AUDI'S-CURRENT-SALES-INCREASE-OVER-THE-LAST-YEAR!

In regards to ride comfort if I'm not driving my Benz or Bimmer when I go out, I'm either in a A6 4.2 or a A8 W12 both which business partners of mine have. You can trust me this ride comfort isn't really a issue at all, it's miner at best, I however haven't been in a RS4 yet! :eusa_thin

You can speak until you're blue in the face I don't care what their sales gain was compared to Mercedes or BMW, that was never the issue. How silly is is to boast about single point sales gain when BMW and Mercedes are killing Audi in sales? Talk about much ado about nothing. Anyway, the point was that Audi is an also-ran in the U.S. market. Now is that simple enough for you to grasp?

I don't have to trust you, I've rode in or driven every Audi except for the RS4 and S8 and they don't ride like a Benz. Period.

Looking back on your previous post I didn't respond to anything you said about sales in the first place. The post I responded to didn't even mention sales. I brought up sales as one way to gauge Audi's position in the U.S. market. The art of comprehension.

Listen Merc1 your making your blood pressure rise for nothing!:t-hands: You misunderstood my post, you responded under false pretense, and now your trying to retract on a statement you can't defend! I think that about sums it up!

If your ever in Jersey I'll buy ya a beer and we can talk about it ok?:)

He is quite the fanboy huh? Almost on par with Audiholic.

Hey, how ya doin Bimmer bear? It's been a while since I seen ya around! Where ya been? O, I know!? you been hanging around the local bimmer dealer hoping they make you and official member of the car wash club!:happy001:

Dude please. I haven't retracted squat. I said Audi is an also-ran in the U.S. I said that they don't sell anywhere on the level of BMW or Mercedes. You're the one that got it twisted with this BS about having talked about a sales gain when the post I responded to from you DIDN'T EVEN MENTION SALES, I MENTIONED SALES, then you came back with that gain percent mess.

I haven't retracted a damn thing. Period.

Guys, few more "bad" words and this thread will be dead!!

Make sure you don't insult each other and don't call each other names.

That goes for all of you, ok?

Thanks!

:t-cheers:

A BMW vs MB discussion creates the biggest beef. The most retared crowd must be the die hard Lexus fans over at Autospies and the ZO6 rednecks. It is totally impossible to have a mature and civilized discussion with those type of people.

U know that reminds me a few years ago Corvette Engineering were thinking about spliting up and making their own independent company from chevy.

Like I said MB vs BMW no dought but BMW vs. Audi no way.
Mb has to be in the pciture...its the king.

Most Intensive Brand Rivalry ?? Let Me Put It This Way .......

Just Me Vs Ali .... You Do The Math ....;) :D

Hahaha this thread's getting pretty fiesty. it's great to see it's members are passionate, but there's no need for the insults!

On topic, i've always seen the rivalry as BMW vs Benz. Ask any adult in their 40s+, and chances are, they'll always see the rivalry as Benz vs BMW. This rivalry has developed over many decades and Audi is only starting their surge over the past 10 years.

It's great to see BMW on top (in terms of sales, profitability, efficiency) considering i'm a BMW fan. But i believe that BMWs greatest rival in the short to medium terms is not MB but Audi. Audi's recent spectacular success has really impressed me and i'm sure the brains at BMW in Munich are looking over their shoulder at Audi.

Man the audi fans are like bulldozers.. they are like 6 of them.. they make noise like 500.. way to go boys.. keep it up..
next time the result may turn out BMW vs Audi..
and then we sane ppl (mb,porsche fans) can have some rest:D

I have to say Mercedes has lost its charisma, all they do now is slap a V8 in the engine & some AMG badges, its just not special anymore like M or RS.

The same can be said of the S-Class although it is a highly refined car ;)

So I vote Audi & BMW :D

This is exactly Audi's status in the U.S. market. In Europe they might be level with MB/BMW, but here they aren't even close. Audi has to get on more luxury car buyers shopping lists. Audi's biggest problem is that they're squeezed out between two giants. An Audi is neither as sporty as a BMW and they aren't as comfortable as a Mercedes especially when it comes to ride comfort. The complaints about the ride in the A8, A6 and A4 are all over the place. Audi has had until recently the worst reputation for reliability of the luxury German brands in the U.S. Audi often takes their sweet time with introducing their best cars. It has taken way too long for the RS4 to come to market, and the RS6 is going to take its time also. Audi is doing a lot of things right so don't get me wrong Audi diehards, but here in the U.S. they have a long ways to go. The car that is most important to Audi's overall health here isn't the TT or R8, they're fringe/image models, it is the next A4. It needs to be able to stand toe to toe with the 3, new C, IS, G35 and believe it or not the 08' Cadillac CTS. This is the hottest and most visible segment with around 1M in sales a year when you add in the sales of all the others that compete in that space. The new A4 needs to be a hit.

Most people can't tell you what Audi stands for. That spells and image problem big time. Their close association with VW has also been a liability here. I've heard far too many people say that Audis are nothing more than fancy VWs. Now we know that isn't true, but the perception is there. Perception is an absolute bitch to change.

Agreed. But once you jumped at my throat for trying to explain some of these things to you.
That only proves the outcome. :t-cheers:

Still in europe Audi is better viewed, and a more sporty brand than MB, and now tries to catch the same fish as BMW (tough pricing diferences do exist).

what does this have to do with rivalry??

That is true and why I voted BMW v. Audi. Audi fans really have strong opinions. :D.

ermmm....it is at the moment MB vs. BMW, however, us audi fans can put up a preet good fight and i thinik the tides will eventually change.

I don't recall and doubt that, you must have said something else.....! You must have said something about Mercedes not Audi.
