E-Class Whats the problem with legroom in the E-Class

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a range of executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz in various engine and body configurations. Produced since September 1953, the E-Class falls as a midrange in the Mercedes line-up, and has been marketed worldwide across five generations.

i watched Reviews and the legroom for the w213 in my opinion is still too small.?! Looking at the Skoda SuberB the legroom is enormous.. anyone now why they dont do the same like skoda to put more legroom in the back?

First welcome to GCF, dimipaka.

The legroom of the Superb is marvellous. As far as I know it's similar with the S-Class LWB.

The wheelbase at the E-Class is longer than at the Superb: 2939 to 2841. So this is no explanation.

One reason might be the kind how the engine is implemented. In the E-Class the engine is alongside implemented, in the Superb transverse.

As next Skoda has FWD, Mercedes RWD. But I don't know if the RWD reduces the legroom.

I couldn't find more reasons. Sorry.

:)

I read that FWD really gives more legroom. Thanks for ur answer

Unfortunately it makes the car handle terribly. Rear wheel drives suits better a large car like the E-class. It makes it easier to manoeuvre.

Oh and welcome to GCF, btw.

And what about length of seats? ;)

transversely mounted engines offer greater interior space than rear-wheel-drive vehicles. Theres less front leg room as the transmission tunnel takes up a space between the driver and front passenger and less leg room for centre rear passengers, because of the driveshaft tunnel. So as the engine in the superb is transversely mounted (sideways) the interior can be moved slightly forwards.
