What the!? You guys have to see this!

Sorry for "damaging" the cars in this picture but I don't want the Audi R8 driver (or some random person in the background!!!) to sue me and take away my camera! :usa7uh:

MAJOR EDIT:

The faces of the family have been masked with new identities that vaguely resemble their original appearance.

Let me know if I should do the same for the dogs and the cat - you never know what sort of weird laws exist out there. Animal rights and stuff like that...

:t-cheers:

I don't think I've done anything wrong here. :t-hands:

If there is a law that states I need to ask random people for permission to post there pictures on an Internet forum then I may as well as go around Munich with consent forms and ask 50 people - who just happen to be in the background of a shot with an exotic car that was speeding past me on the street - if it is ok to publish this picture on the Internet. Maybe I should stop posting my car sightings threads because of all those random people in the background.

Yes, there is. Posting such pictures violates article 22 of the KunstUrhG, which is based on the personal rights (basic right). What Germaniac has mentioned is an exception for pictures showing famous people (article 23). In this case their basic rights might have to step back when weighed against the people's right to information.

But as always: No complaint, no redress. ;)

Best regards, south

I think we should all step back a second. Chris, you shouldn't take this personally because this has raised an important issue that should be taken into consideration.

This is not the first time this issue has arisen, I recall one very respected member posted a candid picture of a woman at a beach a while ago ...it also caused some minor controversy.

Candid photos of random people in public places is obviously not a legal problem at all ....but we all should use common sense and good judgment if the image depicts an individual in a compromised or embarrassing position -- the comments we (all of us) make about individuals in candid photos should also be respectful.

I don't believe Chris is breaking any laws ...but we all should be mindful of other people's privacy ...especially if the image is likely to attract criticism or ridicule for the subject.

Listen we're going to end this useless bickering now.

Rob made a good point.

Everybody over reacted on both sides. Christian didn't really do anything particularly wrong in this thread (the smoking one is a different story). Yes in some places it may be 'illegal' to take photos of strangers and redistribute them, but for the most part its fine as long as it is not for profit and/or its not libelous/slanderous, which this isn't(unlike the smoking lady).

Julius also made a good point that this stuff is better for TheByte. In my personal opinion a picture of a cat walking is not something to go apeshit over and make a new thread over on a Car website, same for the lady smoking, but each is to his own.

None the less. Please resume talking about the pussy and refrain from the other crap or this thread will be closed unfortunately.
