Hot! What is the ugliest Mercedes-Benz design in recent times

unfortunately there has been quite a few. but what are you guys opinions and maybe we can make a list and vote on it. i have quite a few to post:

theses 3 have the worste front ends imaginable. what u guys think?

The CL is definitely not one of them.

CLA is not either, that angle will rarely be seen by the people who own it.

I would say the R or the CLS, but not the SL either.

I find it amazing that people can see the A class and CLS as ugly..
But then again i think everyone's understanding of ugly is very different.

SLK is out of proportions, in real life. CLA is dramatic but also, insanely out of proportions but it might get away from a brief glance IRL.

Its just the front on the SL, SLK and the CLA, the rest of their bodies are fine IMO.

The R class had no heritage so it doesn't really bother me as much, but it is really sad how MB botched up the current SLK and the SL compared to their predecessors.

The thing with R class is, as ugly as it is a mini van, there is only so much you can do to it (and I think it is quite good looking after the facelift) and of course it at least has it's utility to fall back on. The SL, the problem is the headlight, something a facelift can fix. The SLK has some disproportionately huge headlights and tail lights - something that again a face lift can hopefully at least improve if not outright fix. The CLA on the other hand is fundamentally flawed, there is no fixing it. (Sorry Marcus, I know it is in your ultimate "wearhouse", but please remove it ).

Opinion respected, but seriously? I kinda like it, honestly.

IMO:

1. R-Class (Great idea, badly executed)

2. Current CLS, that's how you ruin what was once a great design and concept.
(the departure from what was once IMO, the most beautiful Benz and GREAT new concept at that, the previous generation CLS)

The pre facelift R-class is pretty horrible, but it looks acceptable from the side view, the CLA has a horrible nose heavy look, which is made worse by the long over hang, but it doesn't look too bad from another angles. The CLC is something else entirely, it is a tragic piece of work. It is a half arsed effort and it shows from the horrible cut and paste styling job. It is one of the few cars which looks like it has been in an accident and probably look better when it is in the walls.

I must say the SL doesn't look bad IRL. Not beautiful, but far from bad

For me the ugliest Mercs right now are the A, CLA and then SLK. CLS is a well proportioned car with bad details, a good facelift can do wonders for it.

Not one of above mentioned is ugly. Some details are, how shall I say, unfortunately styled. Like for instance SL front or the pre-FL R-Klasse. Yesterday on the Autbahn I had one (new SL) in my rearmirror. Although it's rather impressively wide, the headlights just don,t turn me on.

The only Benz that is not so nice to look at is the first A-Klasse.

The idea, that people find the CLS C218 ugly, I really can't grasp. But I like the thought of being in a minority group really liking the design of this car. And that every inch of it, front, back and sideways.

At least MB design differs between modelranges. That's for me an important issue.

Facelifted R-Class is a huge improvement and not altogether ugly considering what it is. The CLA - man oh man - what to make of it. I dunno. When viewed soberly in pictures from certain unflattering angles the car is just blech! I reserve ultimate judgement for when I see it in the tin.
