They've all dropped out of the Detroit Auto Show!!!! Nissan and Infiniti have also decided to pass on the Chicago Auto Show also! That means no G37 Convertible, California, or 370Z for me until they show up at local dealerships. This sucks. I'm starting to wonder if I should bother going to Detroit next year. Maybe some of the local dealers will display some of these cars? NOT. They don't have any money. The only bright spot is that I plan to go to the New York show this year in April. Oh and I forgot, Porsche is also skipping Detroit!

more like RIP to motorshows in general.

Here in Australia, half of the manufacturers didn't turn up to the Sydney motorshow this year, and next year, there won't even be one. Companies are spending their money on special customers or potential customer events only, which is cheaper and a lot more effective.

True. Promotions and events are something that manufacturers are spending more and more money on, especially in emerging markets. BMW nor Audi bothered to attend the London Motor show this year. I can fully understand RR and Ferrari for only exhibiting at select autoshows as only 2% or so of the people attending autoshows can afford to buy their cars.

Rolls-Royce are holding back their 2009 Event budget to focus on the Geneva launch of the Concept Car precursor to the RR04. And the premiere of the production car at Frankfurt in September.

BMW AG decided to support the London Motor Show in 2006 with the world premiere of the BMW M6 Cabrio. Sadly the expectations for the London show were not on the level the UK autosociety anticipated and therefore BMW decided not to represent . Shows like London and Sydney are responsibility to BMW GB or BMW Australia.

Whereas BMW will represent at Detroit, Geneva, Frankfurt and Tokyo - The four key events for 2009. With a world premiere concept under "Efficient Dynamics and Project-i" destined for Geneva,Frankfurt and Tokyo.

Whereas European manufacturers are holding off new model launches until Geneva. The first major show for the European auto manufacturers.
BMW are still in discussion on keeping the Z4 on ice to Geneva after the press introduction in December. But so far it looks to Detroit.

As BMW will focus on key market launches for 2009 : BMW Z4 Roadster , BMW X1 ,
BMW 760Li , amongst other projects and the important launch of 2009 : The Progressive Activity Sedan.

Well i think this is BS from all these brands..

If they dont have anything to show..or dont want to come..they can atleast tell their general dealers to get a few cars up there..

It shouldnt be a problem..

I'm actually planning on attending one of the European car shows in 2009 just to have tried it out. The Stockholm show is just sad.

Where should I go?
