What could BMW do to catch Audi for best interiors?

lol i know.. but seriously i dont want every one to like the S like me..
but that seat issue is nothing to complain about.. especially not when your own fav brand does the thing so badly.. that its almost embarrasing to talk about

I don't know about the new S class (not been in one yet) but i was taken for a ride in the older one about one month ago and the fit and finish was unbelievably bad. Perhaps because it was the prefacelifted model?

Then why such reply? Osna think it's not that good (as you think) and he's entitled to express his opinion.

I also don't like the position of the buttons in both new and previous S, so what?

:t-cheers:

first of all the reply was not to osna.. it was to the dude who posted the pic:D

who cares what you like or dont like..haha:D

now that you see my post in a new light.. review it..and come again

The seat controls on the door panels will:

1) Increase visibility to the passenger, because he wouldn't have to look down to check what he's adjusting;

2) Enable more space to be used to space out the buttons, so that adjusting wouldn't be such a clumsy issue.

I think it's ingenious and I miss it a lot now that the seat controls in the Phaeton are way down at the bottom (below the seat), like in the A8.

Actually its the exact opposite. My bro drives a merc and the seat controls are in no way a natural position. Its much easier to let your arm fall right to the seat's side and feel the knobs to adjust your seat rather than stretching your arm out towards the steering collum and adjust it there on the door panel.

That was my point.:usa7uh:

As he should Andreas! :D :D But artist does have a point. THe 7er wasnt the best set up and somethings are kind of awkward which seemed to be fixed in teh 5 and the 3. But still, i've seen plenty of reviews commenting on how well the BMW driving position and button locations are so....its really not bad.

Well BMW has for long been know for its ergonomic design and driver focused cockpits. There has been some minor failures in details in recent BMW models but the Bavarian designs are still on a great level.

How funny...
But oh so true. It's better to put you hand up than twist it down in to a tighter place between your leg and center console.

true and true, such things are individual. To each his own.

I don`t agree with you there, your view of the issue is just too simple!
Fact is there are too many seat adjustments of the seat for your arm (or hand) to just "fall down" to operate the controls. Many automotive journalists have complained about BMWs` seat adjusters being in the wrong place and I happen to agree.

The Mercedes system is more efficient! everyone might not agree with it but it is simply in a more logical place for use because the adjustments are in perfect view for operation.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
