E-Class (W213) W213 - Standard sound system vs. mid-tier Burmester system?

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Production: February 2016–2023 as model years: 2017–2023. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.

I'm about to order a 2017 E300, and there are 3 sound systems: standard/stock, Burmester Premium (13 speakers, 590-watt), and Burmester 3D (23 speakers, 1450-watt).

Who makes the stock stereo system? How many speakers and watts is it? More importantly, how does it compare to the mid-tier Burmester option? Not sure if it's worth the extra cost.

I have not had a direct listen in the new E-class. However, I have heard many many systems of the competition. The standard systems are usually not satisfying to a guy that listens to music. I always recommend to get at least the mid level option. The fact that you're asking about the sound system gives me the feeling that you care about your music a bit. In this case I would highly recommend that you get the Burmester Premium system.

Best way to find out is to listen to them with the same music that you listen to every day. I'm assuming you use spotify high quality 320 kbps?

Hi Adam,

I know this is a bit late, but I was looking for this information myself, so I may as well post my findings. I went to a dealer yesterday, where they luckily had both the stock and mid tier burmester option. I would not consider myself an audiophile, but I like good sound and listen to music a lot while driving and at home.

The difference in the 2 systems is clear. I was actually quite discouraged when I heard the stock system in the E class compared to the stock system in the CLA i'm driving now. There is very very little depth and bass to the sound, and while I don't expect it to be amazing for a stock system, I actually found it quite lackluster. I would not be happy with it.

The burmester middle tier system was however very nice and I would without a doubt upgrade if I was to buy an E class. (Currently waiting for the 5 series to make a decision on a purchase of one of the two). The sound has tremendous depth and the bass is powerful without beeing over the top. The system also looks better with its silver speakers compared to the black speakers of the stock system, which actually looks a bit out of place depending on the configuration of the interior.

I ordered my S213 in Norway for export from there, I tried a lot of them but none with the standard stereo.. They don't want the standard stereo in their demo cars..
The mid-tier Burmester is ok, personally I would like even better sound system but the mid-tier is the best one available in the estate..
