VW Käfer Rometsch Taxi

In the fifties the VW Käfer was one of the most used cars as a Taxi in Germany. After a decision of few german communities that a Taxi needs four doors the car body company "Rometsch" from Berlin stretched about 30 VW Käfer by 18 centimeter / 7 inches and equipped the car with four doors.

If you called it a Beetle in any of those countries they would automatically know what you were talking about, the same cannot be said the other way around. Which is why VW sell a Beetle today, not a VW any of the words you typed above.
 
In Brazil, they were not only popularly known as Fusca, but in fact the actual name of the car was Fusca. They had a little plate in the engine cover with that designation.

In Bulgaria it's known as VW Kostenurka/Костенурка which is Turtle in Bulgarian.
Early ones are Käfer and the new ones are Beetles here.

Interesting to hear! The nickname "peta" we use for the Kafer in Bolivia, is actually a slang for "turtle" just used on my region, but got accepted all over the country for the car in question.
