Of the 230 Volvo EX30s sold here last year, 4 caught fire this month alone!! What a terrible piece of junk and a death trap! "Volvo, the global standard for safety"

“I barely had time to get off”

That’s a disaster for Volvo, THE safety first company on the planet.

NCM batteries, they can indeed burn If the welds are not properly done.

The base model has the LFP battery which can’t burn btw.

I wouldn't let them into any shopping mall with underground parking either.

Overload
Buildings in Punta del Este banned the entry of a certain electric vehicle model. The decision came after an alert issued by the Ministry of Economy regarding battery failures in the Volvo EX30.

Did the building owners ban Ferrari 458's? 5 of them caught fire in 2010.

Volvo has built 180K EX30's, 4 catch on fire, so what, this is a prime case of a poster with a bee in his bonnet about EV's making mountains out of molehills.

You didn't read the news properly. First, it's from reputable newspapers. Second, it's not 180K, it's 4 in just one month out of only 230 units sold in my country—a big difference before you downplay the situation.

In addition, the recall is worldwide; these EX30s have been catching fire all over the world. It's best to analyze things before speaking.

Volvo issued a worldwide warning that you shouldn't charge it more than 70% or it will most likely catch fire. Buy one then; they must be on sale these days.

That's right, it's happening everywhere; it seems some of the people posting here are the ones who don't know anything.

it's 9-12 cars which have burning out oif 180k EX30's build, it's only cars with the larger battery which are affected, which is approx 40k vehicles, these are being recalled, what's the big deal? VW recalled millions of diesel cars, recalls happen all the time. I've owned 4 cars which have been involved in product recalls, it's not a big deal. So far nobody has died, remember it took 27 people dying in exploding Ford Pintos before Ford did anything about it. Later investigations believe up to 900 people died from Pintos exploding. Ford has a history in being negligent yet people still buy Ford. 271 people died in Explorers which were fitted with defective Firestone tires is another example.

The "BEV versus ICE" debate is one of the most quasi-ideology, agenda promoting, hence politically instrumentalized debates. One of the hottest current social media phenomenons. Some truths, an abundance of half-truths and even more nonsense.
